Hope to see some of you at the Beaulieu International Autojumble this weekend, 12th/13th September.

As usual, we're in RED field, plot 117 ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Come and say hello. I'll have our complete range of LED products, D lamps, Pork Pie lamps, L549's and of course my electronic versions of the Lucas RB106 and RF95.

I'll also have a selection of overhauled/rebuilt dynamos inc. Smiths units for Bentley etc. Come and have a look.

Calling all post war Rolls Royce and Bentley owners.

Rolls Royce and Bentley cars fitted with lucas SFT576 foglights (RR part number UD2202).

Rolls Royce used them as a combined foglight and indicator with the 409 bulb (RR part number UD2499).
Used in the mass produced Rolls Royce and Bentley post war cars, Phantom V, S1, S2, SC1 and SC2.

Is there any interest in an LED version of this bulb???
One yellow beam for the fog lamp and an amber light for flashing indicators.

I may well look into having a batch made if there is enough interest from owners. Are there at lease 50 people out there that would buy an LED version of the now expensive filament bulb

Just a reminder of the damage an over tight drive belt can do.
This commutator end bush was new just 150 miles ago.

1" (25mm) up and down movement in the longest run is all that's required. Too tight and the thrust will knock an oilite bush out very quickly. You also risk damaging the armature shaft.

Something I see often with pre war Rotax dynamos is a cracked (and often repaired) brush ring.
Most that come into the workshop are like this.

The ring holds the brush boxes which are adjustable for optimum output. If they break, the brushes move around and the ring comes off, on to the commutator and can cause damage.

The answer?

CNC a replacement from billet aluminium and improve it at the same time. I had a batch made some 10 years ago.
They are made thicker in the area that they always crack.

I always replace them if they are broken, repaired or corroded.

Another great improvement from Classic Dynamo ๐Ÿ˜€

Our LB9 light board is one of our best selling LED light boards as it gives an amber indicator through a red lens on many wing mounted rear lamps such as the Lucas 549.

People ask me if it can be used on cars currently fitted with a Lucas DB10 relay which flashes the brake light as an indicator.
Not ideal on modern roads as many only recognise an amber flashing light as a turn signal.

The answer is YES ๐Ÿ˜€ With just a few easy alterations you can have amber flashing indicators through a red lens.

I've put together some simple instructions and a diagram to show you how to do it.

My apologies for the lack of โ€œOn the bench todayโ€ posts of late. Our sheer workload has kept me in the workshop with very little time to post about the things we do ๐Ÿ™‚

I always take pics of the dynamos we rebuild and repair and the regulators and cut outs I convert.

Hereโ€™s a pre war Lucas cut out that came in burnt out. Totally overhauled and converted to a solid state cutout. All connections remain the same. Not a big fat diode, but a cleverly thought out and protected system that works perfectly ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

If you need ST51 D lamps or ST38 Pork Pie lamps for your classic,, we have them made. We don't buy them in from someone else who has already put a mark up on them. We also stock a range of spare parts for them and all at down to earth prices ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Great quality units in black enamel or chrome........ https://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/the-cdrc-online-shop.php #!/ST51-D-Lamp-Early-Type-Split-Lens/p/101835329

Our LED conversion light boards that give a light that's brighter than a bulb but shines like a bulb, unlike others that have the LED chips right behind the lens so you can see every individual chip.

We also stock Lucas L549 rear lamps which take our direct replacement LED stop/tail bulbs, OR you can easily fit our rather special LB9 light board that gives you stop/tail AND an amber flashing indicator through a red lens.

Perfect for adding hidden indicators ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Come and treat your classic to a nice new electronic dynamo regulator.

Our ADR (Advanced dynamo Regulator) range includes two of the most common regulators of the post war era up until around 1970.

Our ADR106 directly replaces the Lucas RB106 with either the early type screw terminals or the later spade terminal version.

Our ADR95 replaces the Lucas RF95.

Fully fuse protected and current limited for trouble free charging. Nothing to adjust or wear out.

Forget the cheap and nasty, over priced Indian made mechanical copies available from some sellers or on eBay.

Our regulators are proudly Made in England by us and each one is carefully assembled by hand and load tested to ensure perfection ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Nickel plated terminals and screws, a smooth galvanised clip to protect against corrosion.
Our PCBโ€™s use only the very best quality components and the heat sink is machined from aircraft quality aluminium.

Satisfied customers across the world.

Come and see what quality looks like ๐Ÿ˜€
