When the customer booked in for a service… this wasn’t quite what we expected 🤔 But how could we say no to that half a horse of pure power 😮‍💨🐎💨

It’s been a tiring few weeks here at CN Motors 🛠️

We’ve had it all lately:
⚙️ Gearboxes (automatic & manual)
⚙️ Clutches
⚙️ Timing belts & chains
💨 Injectors & turbos
⚡ Electric vehicle diagnostics
🛞 Services, brakes & tyres
💧 Washer pumps

…and that’s just a fraction of what we’ve been working on! 😅

On top of that, we’ve been putting in shifts at all hours painting the workshop floor so we could reopen quickly and keep on top of the workload😵‍💫. It’s definitely looking much prettier after its makeover 💅though there is still a bit more sprucing up to be done!

But honestly, it’s all worth it when we get to enjoy sunsets like this at the end of the day 🌅✨

🔧 Knocking Noise? Don’t Ignore It 🔧
📍 Vauxhall Corsa in this week

This Corsa came in after the customer mentioned hearing a ‘knocking’ sound whilst driving. Luckily, we decided to get it straight on the ramp instead of taking it out for a road test.
Good thing too as the lower ball joint was dangerously close to falling out completely, which could have led to a serious accident.

It’s a reminder that if something doesn’t sound or feel right with your car, it’s always best to get it checked sooner rather than later‼️

🔧 6 Hours. 6 Spark Plugs. One Hybrid Lexus Service ⚡

It was a busy weekend at CN Motors as we tackled a service, including spark plug replacement, on a Lexus hybrid. A job that is usually straight forward, required not only mechanical precision, but strict safety protocols due to working around high-voltage components. Hybrid systems can be deceptive, they may look like a regular engine, but under the surface, they’re closer to EVs when it comes to electrical safety ⚠️🔋

To safely access the spark plugs, a significant amount of dismantling was required, as seen in the pictures. Safety procedures included placing the key in a Faraday pouch, removing the high-voltage service plug and storing it securely, and disconnecting the 12V battery before work could begin.

✅ Old spark plugs removed
✅ Genuine Lexus parts installed
✅ High-voltage precautions followed
✅ Another hybrid back on the road

This was no quick job, over 6 hours of careful work to make sure everything was done safely and professionally.

Had a great little helper in the workshop this weekend! 🛠️ My son, Charlie, gave me a hand changing the fuel filter on a Nissan Cabstar 🚚. Nice to see him taking an interest and getting stuck in👍

🛠️ DPF Issues? CN Motors has you covered! 🚗

This week at CN Motors, we had two vehicles come in with performance issues due to DPF-related problems.

🔧 Case 1: Renault Kadjar
A Renault Kadjar arrived with the engine management light (EML) on and stuck in limp mode. After a quick vehicle scan and live data check, we identified that the upstream turbo pressure pipe was blocked. This was quickly rectified using our Launch DPF cleaning gun, we cleared the blockage without needing to remove the pipe, saving the customer both time and money on extra labor costs. Afterward, the vehicle was road-tested and rescanned to ensure all faults were resolved.

🔧 Case 2: Vauxhall Vivaro
A Vauxhall Vivaro also came in with the EML on and in limp mode. Our scan revealed a blocked DPF. We used the same Launch DPF cleaner to thoroughly clean the filter. Again, the vehicle was road-tested and rescanned to ensure all faults were resolved.
