π TRAILER TOWING COURSES AT DMP TRAINING π
Being legally entitled to tow doesnβt necessarily mean you have been taught how to do it safely.
We are pleased to announce that Jenny and Brian have successfully completed their trailer-towing training and have demonstrated full competence.
Under current Great Britain rules, drivers who passed their car test from 1 January 1997 can generally tow a trailer with a maximum authorised mass of up to 3,500kg under Category B+E. However, drivers must still remain within the towing vehicleβs plated limits and ensure the trailer is safe, correctly coupled, securely loaded and roadworthy.
Our practical course includes:
β
Vehicle and trailer safety checks
β
Understanding MAM, towing limits and gross train weight
β
Safe coupling and uncoupling
β
Correct use of breakaway cables and secondary couplings
β
Weight distribution and load security
β
Safe braking, cornering and road positioning
β
Reversing and manoeuvring
β
Recognising and responding to trailer snaking
β
Towing speed limits and motorway restrictions
Suitable for drivers towing:
π Caravans
π΄ Horseboxes
π οΈ Plant and equipment trailers
ποΈ Leisure trailers
π Commercial and work trailers
Remember: when towing, the national speed limit is 50mph on single carriageways and 60mph on dual carriageways and motorways. You must not use the right-hand lane of a motorway with three or more lanes.
Train with DMP and become a safe, confident and competent towing driverβnot simply a legally entitled one.
