Dear drivers who abuse learner drivers… im sick of it.
Sorry we’re not all born knowing how to drive.
That little L plate isn’t a warning that the driver is an idiot. It’s a warning that they’re learning. Something you clearly managed to forget how to do.
Tailgating them, blasting your horn, shouting abuse or squeezing past just to prove you’re in a hurry? Congratulations. You’ve successfully made the road more dangerous for someone who’s trying to become a safer driver.
And the best part? You were a learner once too. Yes, YOU.
Imagine being so confident behind the wheel that you feel the need to intimidate someone who’s still building their confidence.
Being able to drive doesn’t automatically mean you’re a good driver. And having a licence definitely doesn’t give you a personality.
So next time you see an L plate, take a breath, leave some space and remember your five seconds of impatience could set someone’s confidence back weeks.
Be the driver you wish you’d had around when YOU were learning.
