With harvest season under way, you're more likely to come across tractors and other slow-moving farm vehicles on rural roads. 🌳

A few things worth remembering: tractors can be wider than they look, drivers may have limited visibility and these vehicles need more time and space to manoeuvre. 🚜

Only overtake when you can see the road ahead is clear, never on a bend or the brow of a hill, be prepared to slow down and wait if there's nowhere safe to pass. ✅

Heading on a long car journey this summer?

Remember to do your T.R.I.P. checks:

⛽ Top-up: Oil, fuel, or electric vehicle battery
🛌 Rest: Make sure the learner is well rested and plan a break at least every 2 hours
🔍 Inspect: Check tyre pressure, tread, and overall condition
🌦 Prepare: Be ready for changing weather and road conditions

Learning to drive? Make sure you know how to navigate rural roads. 🌳🚗

Last year we made some minor changes to the driving test to make it more reflective of the everyday conditions motorists face.

This means you may spend more time on higher speed, higher risk roads — such as rural roads — while on your driving test, where location allows.

If you're a learner, make sure you practise driving on a variety of roads, not just town centres and dual carriageways. If you're supervising a learner, it's worth brushing up on your knowledge and skills too.

These roads present real challenges that need to be learned, not just guessed at. ✅

Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking

🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

🚨From 9 June, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.

If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:

✅ any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked

✅ the test centre you first booked at on that current booking

If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at on 9 June – not where you first booked.

So the clocks have changed to British summertime and this young man has just changed his life completely😎🥳🎊🎉🚙😎.
Congratulations to Gabriel Sinnott I’m passing your driving test first time this morning in Bury St Edmunds. Gaining a full category B driving license which gives you access to all category B vehicles manual and automatic.
It has been an absolutely amazing pleasure working with this young man to help him gain he’s driving license. He’s dedication hard work he has put everything you possibly could ever wish for into getting this license.
