This is why I slow down and observe. MIddle is original kicker shaft, left and right (new shafts). Right most shaft show larger variances in circlip groove location (higher) in relation to OEM location. Higher groove height reduces the ability of kicker pinion engagement and encourages pop out, especially on higher compression builds. - Always inspect parts is the lesson.

Crank runout check, about .001" or less and in phase of course

You should be running simultaneous crank end dial indicators to see phase/pinch/spread issues from one web/shaft to the other.

Rebuilt Honda CT70H Engine, stock rebuild.

On a side note, these last few months, I have had 6 mitsubishi stators on these manual engines...

First thing this morning took a mile long test ride to verify cold startup, idle stability and a little more break-in running. Ran it a few miles last Friday too. Time to drain oil, remove from the test bike and get packaged up in the cooler to ship back to the owner.

Timing Light use is your best approach to setting up your ignition points. Relying on feeler gauges is ok, but not good enough.

Having some kickstarter pinion gear popping on this 4 speed engine. Took a few minutes to make an observational video for all that are interested, on how the kickstarter engages with transmission and clutch basket to rotate crank and start your Honda Z50 and CT70 and similar engine
