遺贈寄付の窓口に「遺贈寄付ガイド」が追加されました👏

遺贈寄付とは、社会貢献活動に役立てることなどを目的に、
個人が遺言によって「遺産の一部」、または「全部」を特定の団体（個人）に寄付することをいいます。

いただいたご寄付は、南アフリカ共和国の子どもたちに本と学びの機会を届けるため、
移動図書館車の寄贈・整備・輸送、現地での移動図書館活動の支援、教育資材の提供、事務局運営費等に活用します🚌

We’ve now added a “Bequest Guide” as a bequests desk👏

A bequest is when an individual, with the aim of contributing to social causes,
donates “part” or “all” of their estate to a specific organization (or individual) through their will.

The donations we receive will be used to provide books and learning opportunities to children in the Republic of South Africa,
including the donation, maintenance, and transportation of mobile library vehicles; support for local mobile library activities; the provision of educational materials; and administrative operating costs. 🚌

富山県内の高校生が自主的に企画・実施した「英語児童書寄贈プロジェクト」が朝日新聞富山県版に取り上げていただきました📖

「南アフリカの子どもに、学ぶ喜びと夢を見る力を届けたい」と富山国際大付属高校に通う生徒さんの思いが周囲を動かし、英語の絵本や児童書が寄付されました。

発起人である生徒さんは、幼少期の頃に南アフリカを訪れた際に高速道路の脇に並ぶトタン屋根の家と裸足で走る子どもたちの暮らしを見て、不自由なく生活する自分との差に衝撃を受けたそうです。
これをきっかけに南アフリカの社会課題に興味をもち、高校生のときに家庭で使われなくなった英語の絵本や児童書の回収、および輸送費をまかなうための募金活動を校内で精力的に実施しました。
その結果、短期間で約250冊の書籍と、42,000円以上の寄付金が集まりました📚
集められた書籍は、南アフリカ東ケープ州の教育省へ寄贈されました🎉

「本を手にした子どもたちが、新しい知識や価値観に出会い、将来に希望や可能性を見いだしてくれたら」という想いが海渡って南アフリカまで届きました🇿🇦

The Asahi Shimbun Toyama version featured the “English Children’s Book Donation Project,” which was independently planned and carried out by high school students in Toyama Prefecture.📖

“We want to bring the joy of learning and the power to dream to children in South Africa”—the passion of students at Toyama International University High School inspired those around them, leading to donations of English picture books and children’s books.

The student who initiated the project visited South Africa in her early childhood, she was deeply shocked by the contrast between her own comfortable life and the living conditions of the children she saw—running barefoot alongside corrugated-iron houses lining the highway.
This experience sparked her interest in social issues in South Africa, and while in high school, she energetically organized a school-wide campaign to collect English picture books and children’s books no longer used at home, as well as to raise funds to cover shipping costs.
As a result, in a short period of time, they collected approximately 250 books and over 42,000 yen in donations.📚
The collected books were donated to the Department of Education in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.🎉

My hope—that “the children who receive these books will encounter new knowledge and values, and find hope and possibilities for their future”—crossed the ocean and reached South Africa 🇿🇦
We would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported this effort 🙌

岩手県大槌町で東日本大震災後の復興を支えた移動図書館車「なかよし共和国号」が、現在は南アフリカ共和国ハウテン州で活躍しています🚌
岩手県大槌町は、2011年の東日本大震災による津波で甚大な被害を受けました。その後、2012年2月、日本ユネスコ協会連盟より移動図書館車「なかよし共和国号」が寄贈され、住民の方々に本を届ける活動が始まりました。
2018年6月には大槌町立図書館が再建され、その後もしばらく運行が続けられましたが、次なる活躍の場として南アフリカへ渡ることになりました。
2022年、当会の南アフリカの教育支援プロジェクトの一環として、出港式を経て南アフリカへ寄贈されました。車両状態も良好だったことから、現在は南アフリカ・ハウテン州教育図書館を拠点に、主力車両として運用されています。
わたしたちは、南アフリカ出張の際に学校訪問し、移動図書館車が子どもたちへ本を届け、読み聞かせ授業を行っている様子を目の当たりにしました。震災復興を支えた車両が、日本の反対側で新たな学びを届けていることに深い感銘を受けました。

The "Nakayoshi Republic" mobile library, which supported reconstruction efforts in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, following the Great East Japan Earthquake, is now serving the community in Gauteng Province, South Africa. 🚌
Otsuchi Town in Iwate Prefecture suffered extensive damage from the tsunami caused by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Subsequently, in February 2012, the Japan Federation of UNESCO Associations donated the mobile library vehicle "Nakayoshi Republic," and efforts to deliver books to residents began.
In June 2018, the Otsuchi Town Library was rebuilt, and the bus continued to operate for a while afterward, but it was eventually sent to South Africa to serve in a new capacity.
In 2022, as part of our association’s South Africa Education Support Project, it was donated to South Africa following a departure ceremony. Since the vehicle was in good condition, it is currently being operated as a main vehicle based at the Gauteng Provincial Education Library in South Africa.
During a business trip to South Africa, we visited schools and witnessed firsthand how the mobile library van delivers books to children and conducts storytime sessions. We were deeply moved to see that the vehicle, which had supported post-disaster reconstruction, is now delivering new learning opportunities on the other side of the globe.

富山県内の高校生が自主的に企画・実施した「英語児童書寄贈プロジェクト」において、日本から発送された書籍が南アフリカ共和国・東ケープ州へ無事に到着しました！

このプロジェクトは、富山県内の高等学校に通う女子生徒（当時）が「世界の教育格差を少しでも埋めたい」という強い想いから、自主的に立ち上げたものです。
校内での呼びかけを行い、家庭で使われなくなった英語の絵本や児童書の回収、および輸送費をまかなうための募金活動を精力的に実施しました。
その結果、短期間で約250冊の書籍と、42,000円以上の寄付金が集まりました📚
集められた書籍は、南アフリカ東ケープ州の中心都市ポートエリザベスにある州教育省へ寄贈されました。寄贈先では書籍不足が課題としてあったため、今回の寄贈は、現場のニーズに直接応えるものとなりました🚌

一人の高校生の想いから始まったこの活動は、南アフリカの子どもたちにとって知識の扉を開く大きな一歩となります。
ご協力いただいたすべての皆様に心より感謝申し上げます🙌

The books shipped from Japan as part of the “English Children’s Book Donation Project”—an initiative independently planned and carried out by high school students in Toyama Prefecture—have safely arrived in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa!

This project was independently launched by a female high school student (at the time) from Toyama Prefecture, driven by a strong desire to “help bridge the global education gap, even if only a little.”
She actively promoted the initiative within her school, collecting English picture books and children’s books no longer used at home, and conducting fundraising activities to cover shipping costs.
As a result, approximately 250 books and over 42,000 yen in donations were collected in a short period of time 📚
The collected books were donated to the Provincial Department of Education in Port Elizabeth, the capital of South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. Since a shortage of books was a pressing issue there, this donation directly addressed the needs on the ground.🚌

This initiative, which began with the passion of a single high school student, represents a major step toward opening the door to knowledge for children in South Africa.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported this effort.🙌

南アフリカ大使館主催「フリーダム・デー」レセプションに参加しました🇿🇦

✨✨✨

コンラッド東京にて開催されたフリーダム・デー記念レセプションに、NPO法人SAPESI-Japanとして出席しました。

フリーダム・デー（4月27日）は、1994年に南アフリカでアパルトヘイト撤廃後、初めて全人種が参加した選挙が実施された日。民主化の大きな節目となった歴史的な一日です💎

会場では、シュローダー駐日南アフリカ共和国大使館全権公使のご挨拶を通じて、同国の歩んできた道のりに思いを馳せました。

アフリカ各国の大使館関係者も多く出席し、国際的な交流の場となっていました。

SAPESI-Japanは、移動図書館車の寄贈活動を通じて、これからも日本と南アフリカをつなぎ、子どもたちに本を届けていきます📚

SAPESI-Japanメンバー２名が南アフリカ視察しました✈️

【ハウテン州教育図書館訪問】
ハウテン州の教育図書館を訪問し、以下の活動を行いました。
・チャーチル関連資料の閲覧（貴重資料を特別に公開いただきました）
・図書館部長マンドラ氏との面談
・図書館車の維持・修理費用の捻出方法についてヒアリング

また、今回の出張の主要目的である沖縄県糸満市および宮崎県都城市から寄贈された図書館車両の到着・引き渡し確認を実施し、現地での運用開始に向けた重要なステップを完了しました🚌

We visited the Gauteng Provincial Education Library and carried out the following activities:
・Reviewed materials related to Churchill (we were granted special access to rare materials)
・Met with Mr. Mandla, the library director
・Held discussions on how to secure funding for the maintenance and repair of the library vehicles

Additionally, we confirmed the arrival and handover of the library vehicles donated by Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture, and Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture—the primary purpose of this trip—and completed an important step toward their operational launch on-site🚌

【図書館・情報科学(LIS)会議への参加】
EDULIS（司書教育機関）にて開催された「Library and Information Science Conference」に参加しました📚
SAPESIのセッションでは、日本の戦後復興を支えた移動図書館車の歴史について紹介しました。
また、図書館車の運用に関する現地サーベイを踏まえ、運営上の課題について提起しました。
特に、車両のメンテナンス・修理体制に関しては現場の関心が高く、活発な議論が行われました。

We participated in the "Library and Information Science Conference" held at EDULIS (the library and information science education institution)📚
During the SAPESI session, we presented on the history of mobile library vehicles that supported Japan’s post-war reconstruction.
We also raised operational challenges based on a local survey regarding the use of mobile library vehicles.
In particular, there was significant interest in vehicle maintenance and repair systems, leading to a lively discussion.
