The latest update on our Contessa 32 new build…

After modifications and improvements were made to the mould, we applied the gelcoat and have now moved on to laying the fibreglass.

It’s been all hands on deck, quite literally, as the team work their way through this exciting stage of the build.

Next stop: woodwork! 💙

Meet Amy! 👋

Amy joined our team part-time in October before becoming full-time in November. Officially, she is our fantastic receptionist.

Unofficially, she’s our organiser, paperwork expert, materials coordinator, problem solver and about ten other job titles we’re probably missing.

Keep watching to the end for the moments that make me think Amy may prefer being behind the desk rather than in front of the camera…

⛵ Reminder: Entries for the 2026 Royal Solent Yacht Club Contessa Regatta close this Wednesday!

While many owners will be taking part in the racing, we'd like to remind everyone that the weekend is very much for cruisers too. With a treasure hunt planned on the water, plenty of social events ashore and a fantastic fleet of Contessas gathering together, if racing isn't your scene you certainly don't have to miss out on the fun.

From Jeremy Rogers Limited, Simon, Jessie, Kit and family will be there aboard Assent, and we hope to see many familiar and new faces joining us too.

Could we see more Contessa 32s on the Mailasail AZAB Yacht Race 2027 start line than any other yacht type?

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our friend and fellow Contessa 32 sailor, Alfonso Pascual.

After cruising the Mediterranean with his wife aboard a Mini 6.50m, he later spent three years sailing solo in a Fantasia 7.70m. In 2024, preparing for La Longue Route, he and a friend completely rebuilt the hull of Cyrano, a 1973 Contessa 32.

The voyage was not without its challenges. Along the way, Alfonso stopped in Argentina to clean the hull and in South Africa for repairs. Then, just as he was nearing the end of his journey, Cyrano collided with a container ship, leaving the bow badly damaged and the mast bent.

It was fantastic to see Alfonso again during his visit from Chamonix, France. We are continually inspired by the resilience, determination and spirit of the Contessa family, and Alfonso is certainly a testament to all three. ⛵

Meet Nick, the new owner of Persephoneia, a beautiful Contessa 32 that has recently undergone an extensive refit in our yard.

Following a fantastic trip to Falmouth, Nick is preparing to begin the next stage of his adventure this June. His plans include crossing the Bay of Biscay to A Coruña in Spain, continuing on to Lisbon and then the Canary Islands before joining the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC).

Built in 1968 and refurbished in 2013, this beautiful yacht is now in our yard for the next chapter of her story.

Longbow II, a 42ft wooden yacht, is currently under the expert care of Stuart, our wooden boat specialist, as we begin work to bring her back into top condition.

Meet Glen!

Having joined our team as a shipwright two months ago, Glen has settled in brilliantly and got straight to work on Persephoneia (formerly Persephone). The boat has been in the yard for a substantial refit including a new engine, updated electronics and fresh standing rigging, while Glen has replaced the windows, built a new liferaft cradle and carried out a number of other repairs.

It’s been great to have Glen as part of the team and we’re looking forward to seeing more of his work in the yard. ⛵️
