A little thank you to my pupils for their patience and understanding this week. ❤️

As many of you know, my Focus is heading into the garage tomorrow for some much-needed work on the clutch/gearbox, which unfortunately means I’m having to take a week away from lessons.

I know the disruption isn’t ideal, particularly for those of you working towards tests and trying to keep your lessons on track, so I really do appreciate everyone being so understanding while I get the car sorted.

It’s frustrating having to take time off when I’d much rather be out teaching, but hopefully the work will get to the bottom of the problem and I’ll be back behind the wheel next week.

Thank you as always for your patience, support and continued trust in me. It genuinely means a lot. ❤️

🚗 Throwback Thursday!

I thought I’d start this little series with my very first car – a Mk2 Ford Es**rt Ghia.

Unfortunately, the only photos I still have of it were taken after a motorcycle crashed into it, so it definitely wasn’t looking its best! 😬

It may not have been the perfect introduction photo, but that little Es**rt was where my own motoring journey began.

Over the years there have been plenty of cars, motorcycles and work vehicles, and I thought it would be nice to occasionally look back at some of them and share a few memories along the way.

So, here’s the first one… my very first car. 🚗

Congratulations to Paul on a fantastic first-time pass in Hull this morning, with just two driver faults! 🎉👏

Paul completed an intensive course with me, followed by a few weekly lessons to build on his skills and prepare for today’s test.

All the hard work and determination has certainly paid off. Despite being faced with a challenging test route and some tricky junctions, Paul kept his composure and drove himself to a very well-deserved pass.

I’m really pleased to have been able to help you achieve this result, Paul. You should be very proud of yourself!

A huge congratulations to Amy, who achieved a fantastic first-time pass this afternoon in Hull, with just ONE driver fault! 🎉👏

Amy, it’s been an absolute pleasure helping you work towards your test. You’ve put in a lot of hard work, listened to the advice, and kept improving — and today it all paid off.

Huge congratulations today go to Kendall on a fantastic test pass in Hull, with just 4 driver faults! 🎉👏

I know just how hard you’ve worked for this result, and I also have a pretty good idea of how much passing your test is going to improve your life and make things so much easier for you.

The Focus is back at the dealer overnight to try and get to the bottom of a rattle that’s been going on for months, this is the third time it’s been in to try and work out the issue so let’s hope it can finally be diagnosed.
As for the Puma, it’s an ST Line X, so spec wise very similar to my Focus an ST Line Vignale.
Basically the same engine and gearbox but higher, shorter and less room inside being Fiesta based.
Not driven one of these for three years but I do like them I can see why it’s Britains most popular selling car following the demise of the Fiesta.

Well, it’s been one of those weeks…

Last Tuesday the Focus returned from its second visit to the bodyshop, but unfortunately the repairs are still not right.

Today, while carrying out some routine checks, I discovered severe damage to the inside sidewall of the nearside front tyre, along with damage to the inner edge of the alloy wheel. In almost 37 years of driving a wide variety of vehicles in different roles, I’ve never come across damage like this on the inside of a tyre.

The sidewall has been damaged down to the cords, making the tyre unsafe and in need of immediate replacement. As the rear tyres were also nearing the end of their service life, I’ve decided to replace all four with a new set of Michelin tyres.

Normally I’d arrange this with as little disruption as possible, but unfortunately the earliest fitting appointment is Monday afternoon. This means I’ve had to cancel Monday’s driving lessons.

I’d like to sincerely apologise to those pupils affected and thank you for your patience and understanding. Safety will always come first, and I look forward to being back on the road as soon as the new tyres are fitted.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, had no tests recently and my last update was the Focus having gone for repair following the non fault collision.
Well.
The quality of the repair was to say the least somewhat lacking and after various trips back it went back to the body shop today to correct the quality of the work initially carried out.
I’m honestly not optimistic they’ll sort it!
Anyway in the meantime I’ve yet another silver Polo.

Dropped my Focus off this morning at the bodyshop for the repair following the collision during a lesson four weeks ago.
Until mine comes back I have this VW Polo which has a proper key and a handbrake that should be fun for pupils to get used to.
As much as I have never named any car I’ve owned for some reason ‘Charlie’ seems appropriate for the Polo.
