A huge congratulations to Evie on passing her test yesterday in Bridlington! Evie didn't tell a soul she had her driving test today, and I think that took the pressure off a little bit. Despite that, the nerves started to kick in during the test, and the examiner asked Evie if she would like to take a drink when they were parked at the side of the road. This helped to calm those nerves down and Evie romped back to the test centre with a solid pass with only a couple of driver faults. Despite what people often think, the examiners aren't out to 'fail' people, they genuinely want you to do your best! The examiner didn't need to do what she did to help calm Evie's nerves, but that small gesture might have been what ultimately made the difference on the day. I have seen these small gestures of kindness from examiners play out at multiple different test centers, so the next time someone tells you the examiners are out to 'get you' or 'trip you up' think again. They simply have a job to do, and a very difficult one at that, so pass or fail please be kind to them!! Credit also needs to be given to Evie's parents for taking Evie out for private practice. This was a team effort throughout. I will miss Evie putting up with my silly jokes (she even laughed at one once), and the great banter we had during lessons, but I am looking forward to seeing her out on the roads on the way to pick friends up with a huge smile on her face! All the best, from Rob and Angie Louise Caton at Caton school of motoring!! ♥️♥️♥️🚘🚘🚘
