And home from what can only be described as an “eventful weekend” 😳

Left early Friday in beast with mini maters car on the Ark royal heading for Wales

X5 broke so ended up driving home in hire car

Left early today in a flatbed tilt and slide recovery lorry to cover sprint at Curborough and came home with mini maters car on the back then drove that home !

Today just one straight tow but another was called in at the same time but luckily Gravity Recovery dealt with that with assistance of the top marshals at post 2

Mini Mater had some lorry driving OJT today as well

Just awaiting when the Beast is coming home then try and sort getting to wherever is going to have a look at it

Next weekend sees us at Silverstone for ELMS for our commercial friends ( Again massive thanks for covering today with the lorry) mini Mater on a lorry and me driving 4x4 straight tow now using the commercial companies not the beast afaik.

Well after the gearbox issue with the X5 a few
Phone calls were made and Richard Pearson of CC Recovery had a “spare” lorry today to cover the Sprint at Curborough we had booked

Massive thanks to him for taking on the booking at short notice and entrusting me with one of his fleet !

Also ended up with Mini Mater here as well due to unforeseen circumstances

And home.

Had better days !

Nearly 400 miles done and ended up back where we started with the Beast and Ark Royal still 200 miles away !

Well 30 miles from Aberystwyth in a 30 limit the cruise control dropped out and gearbox went into Second gear

Wouldn’t go up or down automatically or manually then threw a load of DSC 4x4 etc warning lights

Pulled over and read codes and all cleared but has a perm “Park Brake” fault. Goes into gears but won’t move.

Awaiting a lorry to take us the 180 miles we had managed home 😢

Mini Mater is gutted as was really looking forward to it all.

Also need to sort collecting her car at tomorrow’s accommodation we’ve paid for and are now not using.

Guessing big bill inbound

So this weekend is mainly about logistics !!

We have Rali Ceredigion this evening and tomorrow and a sprint at Curborough Sunday

Mini Mater is with me for Ceredigion but is at Silverstone Sunday on a Recovery Lorry

So plan is:-

Take Mini Maters car to Hotel near Curborough
Leave said car there Friday night
Drive to Aberystwyth
Provide Licensed MUK Recovery unit for Rally
Drive to hotel near Curborough sat night
Sunday Mini Mater heads to Silverstone we head to Curborough

Hopefully that plan works !!! And saves loads of time as we are virtually driving past Curborough to get to Aberystwyth

Those followers out on Rali Ceredigion have a good safe run and hopefully you won’t see us 🙄😳

That’s me home from the Mewla Rally on Epynt. 511 miles in total this weekend for 26th event of the year (including race meetings)

Couple of jobs. Nova with broken bottom Arm. Skate under and couple of straps and winched into the Ark Royal

Then back in To help with a slightly second hand C2 !

Couple of Skates strapped together and straps on the front and Bulldog winched onto their trailer.

Horrendous conditions at times during the day and a bit of Sun !

Thanks to Mal Watson for crewing today. Great catching up !

Tomorrow will be mainly check over and prep for a similar mileage length weekend next weekend with Rally Ceredigion Friday and Saturday then a sprint at Curborough on the Sunday.

That’s the All-Terrains fitted (I know the Mewla and Ceredigion are asphalt rallies but had time for a change ) and Ark Royal checked over ready for the 240 or so mile trip out to the Epynt Ranges for the Mewla rally tomorrow.

No Mini Mater as she’s working so I’ll have to Navigate on my own and I’ve been “left to the dogs” as have Mal Watson crewing with me.

Having last couple of weekends off it’s back at it this weekend as late replacement unit on the Mewla Rally on Epynt ranges after another unit unfortunately has had an engine failure.

No mini mater as she is working so I will have the crew from the poorly unit with me. Which will be good as last time I was on Epynt Ranges was probably 20 years ago !

I will mainly be somewhere in that photo 🤷‍♂️

After the 400 or so mile round trip for this event we will back out to Aberystwyth the following weekend for Rally Ceredigion so two weekends in Wales on the bounce !
