Today we had a 15 plate Ford fiesta in for oil change mot and customer wanted all brakes checked , on the check of the rear drivers side we were horrified to see how close this car came to brake failure .
The alloy brake cylinder (wheel cylinder ) had oxidised and the alloy oxidation next to the steel back plate had forced it of its seat and the piston of the cylinder had popped past the fulcrum of were it operates and was just catching upper edge of the brake shoe .
Good catch and now rectified

This driver had a lucky day when another driver they seen something not right with his van a Mercedes sprinter . Good call could have saved him from a nasty accident or worse ! on close examination the rear inner tyre had a huge bulge and was in danger of blow out and the check if the van revealed 2 other tyres just illegal and one just legal , always check seek advice if unsure , day adjusted to make van safe as it wasn’t safe to drive
