The Transport Secretary had been aiming to reduce the backlog to seven weeks by this autumn.

Booking your driving test? Make sure you’re doing it the right way. ✅

Since 12 May, it has been against the law for anyone but the learner driver to book a driving test. Using unofficial apps, bots or automated tools also breaks the terms and conditions of our booking service.

We've already cancelled 450 tests where tests have been booked outside the new rules – and we're continuing to monitor activity closely. 💪

If misuse of the booking system is identified, we can cancel your booking and suspend your ability to manage your test online.

Our priority is to make the system fair for every learner and to stop you being exploited by third parties. The only way to book and manage a test is through GOV.UK. 💻

A year ago today I passed the 3rd and final part to become a fully qualified driving instructor. Blood, sweat and tears were split during the 10 months that I was a trainee (PDI) to become fully qualified.

I was finally able to advertise myself as a driving instructor and since that time I have been able to help so many people achieve their ambitions of becoming pink licence holders.

There have been so many laughs, and just as many near death experiences, but I love helping each and every pupil who i have the honour and privilege to teach.

Thank you to all my pupils, past and present for allowing me to be part of your journey and for trusting me to teach you the skills needed to drive safely.

First time pass!

This mornings congratulations goes to Nicky who passed her test this morning in Chesterfield with only 2 driving faults.

I am super proud of how far Nicky has come throughout her driving journey. From very nervous first lessons, always being in reverse when we wanted to go forward, to an amazing first time pass. Nicky has done exceptionally well, and worked extremely hard.

All the best for your driving journey Nicky.

Hi Everyone

There may be some disruption to lessons over the next few days/ week as I was involved in an accident whilst on a lesson today.

Unfortunately, we were rear ended after stopping at traffic lights.

I am currently waiting for the insurer to get the car assessed for repair so I may need to take some time to attend for quotes etc.

I will try my best to keep disruption to a minimum.

There may also be a different car at some.piint whilst repairs are carried out.

In advance, I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Another AMAZING pass!!!

Todays congratulations goes to Joe who passed his driving test first time this morning at Chesterfield Test Centre with a single driving fault.

Joe has been excellent throughout his learning journey and fully deserves the pass he got.

As we approach the end of the year I'd like to share the results of my first full year as a driving instructor.

I fully qualified in June this year but in this short time (and my time as a PDI (trainee) i have been able to help 16 people achieve their goal to drive. All 16 passes have been in 2025.

There have been some incredible highs and some low points along the way but I am incredibly honoured to be have been able to have helped so many people pass, and of course, be able to help my current pupils achieve their dreams.

I dont believe in numbering passes when my pupils do pass their driving test, they are not a number, which is why I dont advertise how many passes I have each time. But as we are at the end of the year its nice to celebrate each individual and see how many people have passed with me.

I am grateful to each and every pupil, past and present, and thank you all for your hard work, commitment, being responsible, safe and patience during each lesson.

Things dont always go to plan, but we smile, say dont worry, learn and try it again.

Here's to 2026 and this years gallery. What a great bunch....

Congratulations to Kaci who has passed her driving test this morning at Chesterfield Test Centre with only 4 driving faults.

It's been a long journey for Kaci and I am so pleased that she has been able to pass her test , especially on her 1st attempt.

My swear jar wont be nearly as full now though 😅
