Part-4 Israel.
Land Rover Defender vehicles are widely used by the Israeli military and Border Police. The ‘David’ armoured vehicles, based on a Land Rover Defender 110-90 (4×4) chassis, are used by the Israeli military in the occupied Palestinian territory for patrol, reconnaissance and combat.

The Land Rover Defender is the most operational patrol vehicle in the Israeli military. MDT Armor, an American subsidiary of Israeli company Shladot, armors the vehicles.

Through its Israeli distributor – Eastern Automobile Marketing, Land Rover supplies armoured vehicles to the Israeli ministry of defense.

In 2021, MDT Armor, announced it would supply the Israeli Military with about 70 David urban light armored vehicles for US$ 9.98 million by October 2022. The project is budgeted through the U.S. foreign military sales program. The Israeli military has 370 David vehicles in its service. The model in use by the Israeli army is built on top of a Land Rover Defender 110 4×4 chassis, and a 122 bhp, 2.5L turbocharged diesel engine.

In 2021, the Israeli Ministry of Defense published a tender for the acquisition of spare parts for Land Rover vehicle.

In 2021 the Uk Donated 100 Wimki 110 Land Rovers. The Armoured Defender converted in Israeli is referred to as the David. They are many more variants in use.

Note. This only covers Defender. Israeli as a long history with the Land Rover going back to the Series 1. This is about Land Rovers not the Politics of the Middle East so dont post your thoughts about Israel.

Part 3. The Perentie. Approximately 2,500–2,700 Perenties were built for the Australian Army, including both 4×4 and 6×6 variants. While exact figures vary slightly by source, they are generally accepted to include:

Around 2,000+ 4×4 vehicles
Around 500–700 6×6 vehicles

They were many variants to both the 4x4 and 6x6, Common to the 4x4 were the GS/FFR/RFSV, with limited numbers of Station Wagons/Survey and SRV used by the SAS. Others were converted for low volume tasks.

The 6x6 came in Cargo/Troop Carrier/Ambulance/Workshop/Assault Pioneer/Parakeet-Satcomm/Dual-Cab/Ambulance, and LRPV for the SAS.

Powered by the reliable Isuzu 3.9L 4BD1 naturally aspirated diesel engine
Some specialist variants used the 4BD1-T turbo diesel
LT95A 4-speed gearbox with integrated transfer case
24-volt electrical system FFR/RSFV
Heavy-duty chassis and suspension
Full-floating Salisbury rear axle
Excellent payload and towing capacity.

Most have now long since been sold of into public ownership, but a few are held in reserve stock for the SAS.

The certainly served the ADF well over the years and gave the Tax payer value for money.

As an Australian icon, the Perentie has earned a reputation as a excellent expedition vehicle, combining the classic Defender platform with heavy-duty military engineering. For overlanding and remote-area travel, it remains a favourite among enthusiasts who value simplicity, reliability, and exceptional off-road capability.
