Well, this is an interesting one!
Apparently, according to Facebook's Meta AI, my husband Derek inherited Severson Auto Service from his grandfather, Dave Severson, after 50 years in the automotive industry.Ummm… WHAT?!
First off, Derek's grandfathers built houses and did woodworking. Neither one was in the automotive industry. And his uncle Dave Severson actually has a doctorate and was a college professor of entomology at Notre Dame! So, of course, I had to do some digging because I wanted to know where Facebook was getting this information. Turns out, there's a newspaper article out of South Dakota about a DIFFERENT Derek Severson who took over an automotive repair business from his grandfather, Dave Severson, on January 2! What are the odds?! It looks like Meta AI took that family's story and mixed it up with ours! We've also had people confuse us with Dave Syverson Truck Centers in Rochester and Albert Lea over the years, but we're not affiliated with them either. So, just to clear things up, Derek and I started Severson Auto Service ourselves in 2024! We didn't inherit it, and it wasn't handed down through generations. We've worked hard to build what we have today, and we're proud of how far we've come! What's even crazier is that Meta AI listed OUR website as the source of this information, even though our website clearly states that we founded the business in 2024. Just goes to show you can't believe everything AI tells you! And to the other Derek Severson out there, if you happen to see this, hello from Minnesota!
