A few random pix from the SIRA Karting race at one of our favorite local tracks, Ceraland Park in Columbus, IN.
Devon Smith-Harden was fast all weekend, testing on a Mad Croc chassis....until yet another engine failure on Saturday. This caused him to start almost last in the feature. No problem, as he quickly made his way through the field and ended up nearly a half lap ahead at the checkers. Felt great to finally get the monkey off his back, that's made for a trying season to say the least.
Gage had a good weekend and except for some lap traffic causing him a spot or two, was running very well.
Drake is Mr. Consistent. He finished every lap at his own pace. Drake does Drake.
Brian Wheeler ran in Yamaha Masters on Saturday, until getting taken out very early on in the Heat. He tweaked his already sore back and withdrew for Sunday....leaving his seat open for......what I'll call, "Against My Better Judgement". I dusted off the gear and decided that my two year hiatus from the seat was long enough.
After repairing the carnage from his wreck, I made the first practice and reminded myself how to do this. Missed the second practice because, well, to be honest I forgot that I needed to pay better attention to how quickly the classes were being run through. Oops. Oh well one practice will have to do, so right to the feature it is.
Got a good start from 15th (new driver, start last) and had a fun run. Most bizarre thing was watching driver after driver falloff lap after lap. fortune was on my side as when the checkers flew, I had made it up to 6th place. Woot.
We'll see if I have any more lapses in judgement in the future...(of course I will).
