BMW walnut blasting in Singapore: why your direct-injection engine loses power, and how we get the intake valves back to bare metal 🔧

BMW petrol engines like the N20, N55, B48 and B58 inject fuel straight into the cylinder. Nothing washes the intake valves, so oil vapour bakes onto them as hard carbon. Give it enough kilometres and it starts choking airflow.

What owners usually feel:
- Rough idle at the lights
- Misfires and an engine light
- Sluggish pickup
- Higher fuel use
- Rough first few minutes on a cold start

Fuel additives can’t reach this carbon. Walnut blasting can.

How we do it at our Woodlands workshop:
01 Intake manifold off
02 Every port blasted with crushed walnut shell, which strips carbon without damaging the valves or head
03 Vacuum out, refit, road test and ISTA scan

直喷引擎（N20、N55、B48、B58）的汽油不会经过进气门，机油蒸气慢慢烤成积碳。怠速抖、失火、没力、费油、冷车抖，都可能是积碳在作怪。

🚨 BMW LIGHTS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING?

🔧 REAL CASE | BMW FRM MODULE FAILURE

This BMW experienced multiple lighting failures after a power interruption.

During our diagnostic scan, we discovered something unusual:

❌ FRM Module – No Communication

💡 WHAT IS THE FRM MODULE?

The Footwell Module (FRM) controls several electrical functions, including headlights, indicators, interior lights and other body electronics.

New clutch. Gearbox overhauled. Still jerking? 😅

This Audi S3 came to TEC AUTO SERVICES with low-speed jerking—even after another workshop had overhauled the gearbox and replaced both the clutch and mechatronic unit.

The owner had already spent a lot, but the problem remained.

After a road test and checking live diagnostic data, our findings pointed to the recently replaced clutch.

The hardest part? Explaining why a clutch that had just been replaced needed replacing again. 🥲

Thank you to the owner for trusting us. After another clutch replacement, followed by basic settings and adaptation, our road test confirmed that the rough shifting and jerking were resolved.

We also return the removed clutch to the owner to keep the repair process transparent.

BMW battery went flat… now a module won’t wake up? 😭🔋

Low voltage or a power interruption can sometimes cause module data corruption, including in the FRM.
