Trundles Automotive Limited Our workshop services are in central New Plymouth but we can ship our top quality products all over NZ.

Our team has over 100 years combined experience in the modified vehicle industry and we are are your off-road, general parts & motor sport specialists

Not only do we offer upgrades such as unichips, dyno tunes, exhausts, lift kits and wheels and tyres, we also do general repairs, servicing and wofs. We are your diesel tuning specialists. With Unichip computers and a full tune on our dyno by expertly trained technicians your vehicle will come out with not only great performance and fuel economy gains but you can be sure that it will be safe, reliable and backed by a great warranty. But we don't just do tuning, we can do it all here at Trundles Automotive with a large workshop, fabrication bay, retail store and parts wholesaling. We offer a comfortable customer lounge and have a couple of courtesy cars available for customer uses. Our hours are 8-5 Monday to Friday. We accept Finance Now, Afterpay and Laybuy through our website and Trademe store.

PART 4 OF 6 🔧 What is spring seat height?

It’s one of the measurements we check when setting up your front struts. In this example, we measure from the lowest point where the coil sits to the centre of the lower mounting bush.

We show the difference between a fixed spring seat and an adjustable MRA setup, and how that measurement is taken.

The measurement shown is specific to this RG Colorado setup...settings vary by vehicle and suspension combination.

There’s more to an airbox than how it looks 🔧

We’ve spent years testing Hilux airboxes and airflow meter adapters, checking how different shapes, sizes, filters and sensor positions affect airflow readings.

The N70 can be particularly fussy, so we’ve been working on a solution for owners experiencing issues with existing airboxes on the market, alongside further development of our new N80 airboxes.

We’re also developing options for big-turbo and injector setups reaching the limits of the factory airflow meter housing.
Plenty of data logging, plenty of prototypes and a few 2am ideas. Watch this space 👀

PART 2 OF 6 🔧 Heavier springs aren’t always better.

Spring load ratings refer to additional weight permanently fitted to the vehicle. A 50–100kg rating means that weight should be there all the time...not just when you load up for a trip.

Without the matching permanent weight, heavy-load springs can leave your vehicle sitting too high and riding harshly.
