We get a lot of new customers worried about the mileage on Japanese Importsā€¦

Unfortunately not worried if itā€™s genuine (which is more of a concern) but worried more that itā€™s gone over 70k.

People often forget the age of most of these MPVā€™s & our sales vehicles have usually only covered around 5k per annum on average.

So I thought Iā€™d share a photo of our trusty family vehicle on its annual outing to South West Wales šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳ó æ

Our 2013 Toyota Estima has just hit 161718 miles whilst down here and still drives just as well as the 40k ones we import to sell šŸ„³

Just a reminder to everyone to check the mileage is genuine on what you are buying but more so to focus on buying a good car from a good dealer over buying one cheaper / with less mileage on the advert.

A phrase thatā€™s always stuck with me in the motor tradeā€¦

Bit of a long one but here goesā€¦

1st red flag: šŸš©
We had a lady call at 6pm last night to test drive a car at 10am today because sheā€™s never driven one & we are closer to drive one before heading over to another dealer further away.

Customer was informed the car was at the back of the unit & was invited to come and view the car, if she was happy with what she saw and wanted to proceed then a test drive would be no problem.

Second red flag šŸš©
Customer calls this morning to again request we get the car ready for test drive and it was further explained to come over and view it, make sure sheā€™s happy before we get it out for a test drive.
She said I only want to drive it and then told us it doesnā€™t matter.

Third red flag šŸš©
Father rings up in an aggressive tone, asking ā€œis it you she spoke to, whatā€™s the problem, do you actually even work thereā€

Explained the process to the father that weā€™d like our customers to come and inspect a vehicle and make sure they are happy before we take out for a test drive.
Asked how long this would take and I said no longer than 15-20 minutes to fuel up and move cars once she confirms sheā€™s happy and would like to drive before we request any payment.
ā€œWhy donā€™t you just do it nowā€
Explained again thatā€™s not how we operate and to come over and view it first ā€¦
ā€œJust get it out nowā€

I kindly asked the father to not visit with his daughter and to not consider buying our vehicle anymore as I am not willing to sell it to them.

I heard some sort of negative remarks before he put the phone down.

Some may not agree with me on this, but this way of operating works just fine for us & our customers. šŸ‘Œ

Maybe they are used to visiting car supermarkets and not small independents šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Unfortunately we arenā€™t a research facility /test drive centre and we have to allocate our time wisely and manage enquiries & expectations the best we can.

Anyway sorry for the waffle, I donā€™t normally share things like this but sometimes itā€™s nice for people to know what goes on.

This stunning Toyota Vellfire will replace the familyā€™s current vehicle & will be mainly used by partner Liv who unfortunately couldnā€™t make it to collect today.

Nice straight forward deal this, viewing yesterday afternoon & collection this afternoon - Liv certainly wasnā€™t one for messing around!

Wanting a bigger car for adventures Shannon had first been introduced to Japanese Imports by her neighbour, whoā€™s unfortunately had a bad experience with another dealer so Shannon did some research online and managed to find us šŸ„°

Shannon came down with partner Kev to view a couple different options but sheā€™d already taken a liking to the 20 Series.

Fortunately this one had just been registered & we managed to turn it around very quickly for the family.

Kev asked if we had any spare T Shirts, unfortunately we didnā€™t but we managed to give him a Hoody & Bob Cap, obviously not the weather for those but their son had great fun putting them on šŸ„³
