🐞 Minibeast ball 🪱

Welcome back to preschool after the half term break. Our term has started with a ‘Minibeast ball’ as the children came to preschool in a costume of their choice.

The children decided they wanted a minibeast party- created invitations and planned what they would like to do. We played games, completed minibeast hunts and extended our knowledge learning all about the different minibeasts.

We played a game where each child described one of the insects and we had to guess which one it was!

“I am red and have black spots. I can fly. Who am I?” 🐞

“I was a baby caterpillar and then I made a cocoon… now I am a?” 🦋

“I have so many legs… I move really fast and I can’t fly. I live under big rocks… who am I?” 🪲

We categorised minibeasts into who could fly, swim and who had the most legs too!

Another great day at preschool 🦋 🐞 🐌 🕷️

🌟 Pre-school days are HAPPY days 🌟

Over the past couple of weeks we have been very busy with lots of fun activities to support our learning and development. Here is what we have been up to:
👩🏼‍🏫 exploring our daily calendar and focusing on numbers during our group sessions
🌳 having fun being outdoors during our forest school sessions whilst looking for minibeasts, looking after our vegetable patch and seeking challenges on our swings or slides
🧱 construction has been an interest over the past half term so we have been using our giant bricks to build all different models
🎨 exploring colours during lots of fun and messy play with paints
🐸 using familiar number rhymes to extend our mathematical thinking
🍦 preparing for the sunny weather with our ice cream shop role play
💡 using our light box to explore colour, shape and patterns
🐑 after our visit to Nixons farm we have created our own small world farm play
⚽️ learning lots of new skills such as control over a football in our weekly Footytotz Stockport session
🧩 completing jigsaws and playing board games together
🌈 making rainbows using chalk patterns
💎 we found magic fairy peals outside in our forest school area
🚲 exploring different ways of moving on our balance bikes
👶🏼 looking after our dolls in the home corner and having a go at dressing them

After half term we are welcoming everyone back with lots of activities all about Minibeasts 🐞 🕷️ 🐛 🪱

🐑 🐴 🐓 Nixon’s farm trip 🐓 🐴 🐑

We have had the best day at Nixon’s farm!

The excitement of getting on a bus, meeting the animals and having fun on the play equipment has made a fantastic pre-school trip!

☀️ Sunshine, smiles and another super week at pre-school ☀️

This week we have been very busy, we have enjoyed:
🌺 small group learning at our local park looking for flowers, minibeasts and practicing our gross motor skills to move in different ways
☀️ exploring our shadows
🪁 making kites and flying them in the wind
🛝 climbing on our play equipment to develop our balancing skills
🚥 playing listening games in the hall
🌻 watching our sunflowers grow and helping to water them
🧱 using junk modelling to develop our construction and creative skills
🐞 looking for minibeasts and having a minibeast ball in our masks
💦 helping in the garden by watering the flowers, clearing the leaves and taking care of our vegetable patch

Tomorrow we are looking forward to our Footytotz Stockport session with our Coach Chris ⚽️ 🥅 ⚽️ 🥅

🧚 A little bit of MAGIC 🪄

This morning, we noticed a fairy door had appeared in our forest school area 🧚‍♀️🚪

The children decided to make a path for them to follow… so we used our tools to make different-shaped leaves. When using tools, we talk about the importance of safety and keeping ourselves and others safe.

We then noticed the door had opened and a trail of glitter had been left around the forest school area. We shared our ideas about what this could be…

“I think the fairies are telling us they are here”

“Fairies come out at night time… that is when they leave glitter so it sparkles”

“They saw our path and followed it - they are magic“

“Let’s leave them tiny sandwiches and party food“

We are excited to see what happens next…

We love these little adventures that spark from the children’s interests, imagination and their love of learning! 🌟

⚽️ We are very lucky to have weekly Footytotz Stockport sessions with Chris. The children look forward to the sessions which are packed full of learning opportunities and FUN ⚽️

🥚 The life cycle of a chick 🐥

We have had a very exciting week at pre-school as we watched our eggs hatch into little chicks. The children have LOVED this experience - regularly checking on them, talking about what they can see and learning all about the life cycle of a chick.

We have another week with our chicks so the children will be continuing to handle them, watching them grow and helping to take care of them 🥚 🐣 🐥

🥚 🐣 Chick Eggs 🐣 🥚

This morning we had the arrival of our chick eggs ready for the 10-day experience 🐥

We have been talking about the life cycle of a chick and the children have been full of curiosity and questions!

A child asked- “do any of the eggs have 2 baby chicks inside”… we can’t wait to find out the answer!

Over the next couple of days we will watch the process of chicks hatching from their eggs. Then the children will learn all about looking after them and will have the chance to handle them. We are all very excited 🥚 🐣 🐥
