Gentle reminder
Timing belts or and toothed belt were not designed to run in engine oil, they have been modified, But are failing
Here’s a picture of an Oil pump belt that’s failed
Under no tension, the only strain this belt has on it, is driving the oil pump itself.
They need replacing, it’s costly, but cheaper than repairing or replacing your engine due to oil starvation.
If you have a VAG group car 1.6 or 2.0 TDI CR engine that’s roughly 2014 onward, My advice is get this replaced, along with a new crank seal and bolt, if your timing belt and water pump needs replacing do that too.
