π Thinking of learning to drive? Donβt assume manual lessons are becoming a thing of the past.
The government is considering reducing its electric vehicle sales targets, with the current requirement for 80% of new cars sold by 2030 to be electric now under review.
But hereβs the key point for learners π
π In 2025, around 7.8 million used cars were sold in the UK, compared with just 2 million new cars. The vast majority of those used vehicles are petrol or diesel, and many are manual.
That means manual cars are likely to remain a familiar sight on UK roads for years to come.
A manual licence also gives you the flexibility to drive both manual and automatic vehicles, which is why many learners still choose this route.
