GDL Clarification for new drivers.

Learners whose first Category A or Category B provisional entitlement is dated before 1 October 2026 will have until 31 March 2027 to obtain a pass in the relevant practical test under the current arrangements. As a result, there is no requirement for these learners to complete their test before 1 October 2026, and you may wish to make learners aware that they will continue to have a six-month transition period in which to obtain a pass before the new GDL requirements apply. The first practical tests under the new GDL scheme are not expected to take place until 1 April 2027.
