🔧 BMW E93 | N43 Engine 🔧

This BMW E93 was booked in for an engine oil service and a gearbox service after the customer noticed the early signs of changes in the gearbox’s driving characteristics.

✅ Engine oil and filter replaced
✅ Gearbox service completed
✅ All work carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications

Addressing changes in gearbox behaviour early allows any maintenance requirements or underlying issues to be investigated before symptoms worsen.

🔧 BMW 840i G15 – servicing, brakes, battery and tyres

This BMW 840i received an engine oil service, pollen filter replacement and vehicle check, along with new rear brake discs, pads and a brake pad wear sensor. Genuine BMW parts were used throughout, as requested by the customer. ✅

The battery was also replaced and the car coded accordingly, ensuring the battery management system was set up correctly for the replacement. 🔋

During the vehicle check, I found all four tyres were severely worn and in a dangerous, unroadworthy condition. All four were replaced to get the car back into safe condition. 🛞

A reminder of why regular vehicle checks matter—even on a car that feels fine to drive. Check your tyres across the full tread width, including those harder-to-see inner edges.

🔧 BMW E93 – Front Shock Absorbers & Top Mounts Replaced 🔧

This BMW E93 had a leaking front shock absorber. As a shock absorber loses oil, its ability to control suspension movement deteriorates, which can lead to excessive bouncing, reduced stability and uneven tyre wear.

✅ Both front shock absorbers replaced
✅ New front top mounts fitted

Shock absorbers are replaced in pairs across the axle to keep damping balanced on both sides, helping the car remain settled over bumps and during braking and cornering.

Replacing the top mounts at the same time renews the upper support for each suspension strut and helps prevent worn mounts from compromising the repair.

A worthwhile suspension refresh to restore ride comfort, control and confidence behind the wheel. 🚗👌

🔧 Daihatsu Copen – non-start / no crank

This Daihatsu Copen wouldn’t turn over when the owner tried to start it. Testing confirmed the battery had failed and could no longer supply the power needed to crank the engine. 🔋

I replaced the faulty battery, restoring normal starting, then tested the alternator output to check the charging system was operating correctly. All checked out OK. ✅

A battery replacement should always be backed up with charging system checks to help establish why the battery has gone flat and avoid overlooking an underlying fault.

🔧 R50 MINI – CVT gearbox replaced but driving poorly

This R50 MINI had its CVT gearbox replaced at a garage but continued to drive poorly. After carrying out a full diagnostic assessment, the fault was traced to an issue affecting the replacement gearbox and its operation.

Further inspection revealed that the gearbox was not functioning correctly, preventing the vehicle from driving as it should. The vehicle was assessed to identify the underlying cause of the poor driving behaviour and determine the correct repair.

I cleared all the gearbox adaptations and stored values, then carried out the relearn procedure successfully. The car is now driving smoothly and efficiently.

A thorough diagnosis is essential when a vehicle continues to drive poorly after major repairs, as several systems can cause similar symptoms. In this case, the CVT gearbox and related components required careful inspection to identify the fault and plan the correct repair.

🔧 BMW 320d 2012 – cut out and wouldn’t restart

This BMW 320d cut out and failed to restart. Diagnosis traced the cause to turbocharger failure.

🔧 Citroën Saxo – electrical faults and rear light repairs

This Saxo had multiple electrical faults caused by a failed battery, alongside separate rear light issues traced to water ingress, corroded bulb holders and poor previous wiring repairs. ⚡

With the rear bulb holders and matching plug connectors discontinued, I repaired the existing holders and rectified the wiring faults, getting all the lights working again. The rear light clusters were then sealed to help prevent further water ingress, ready for its MOT. ✅

🔧 Rear passenger seat belt replacement

A failed mechanism and frayed webbing meant this seat belt needed replacing. Replaced the seat belt assembly to address both faults. ✅

🔧 Peugeot 208 in for some essential maintenance!

This Peugeot 208 came in for important preventative maintenance to help keep the engine running smoothly and reliably.

✅ Wet timing belt replaced
✅ Water pump replaced
✅ Water pump belt replaced
✅ Drive belt replaced
✅ Necessary seals and gaskets replaced
✅ Engine oil and filter changed

Replacing the wet timing belt at the correct interval is essential, as belt deterioration can lead to serious engine damage. The water pump, water pump belt and drive belt were also replaced at the same time, along with the necessary seals and gaskets. This helps ensure the cooling system and auxiliary components continue to operate effectively while avoiding the need for additional labour later on. Fresh engine oil and a new filter were fitted to support proper lubrication and protect the engine’s internal components.

Keeping on top of scheduled maintenance can help prevent costly breakdowns, improve reliability and keep you safely moving. 🚗
