🔧 Vauxhall Zafira – Rough Running, Lack of Power & Unusual Engine Noise 🔧

This Vauxhall Zafira came in with rough idling, hesitation and a noticeable lack of power, along with a loud rattling/ticking noise from the engine bay that initially sounded very similar to a timing chain hitting the rocker cover.

After carrying out diagnosis, I traced the fault to the ignition coil pack arcing directly onto the cylinder head. ⚡

The electrical arcing was actually creating the loud noise that sounded like a mechanical engine rattle — a good example of why proper diagnosis is important before replacing parts!

🔧 Ignition coil pack replaced
🔧 New spark plugs fitted
💻 Fault codes cleared
✅ Engine tested and running smoothly with full power restored

🔧 Ford Kuga – Tyre Blowout & New Wheel Nuts 🔧

This Ford Kuga suffered a front tyre blowout and needed a replacement tyre.

While carrying out the repair, I found that all of the front wheel nuts were damaged — a common problem with Ford’s two-piece wheel nuts, which can swell and distort over time, making them difficult to remove and refit correctly.

✅ New front tyre supplied & fitted
✅ All front wheel nuts replaced
✅ Wheel correctly secured and torqued

Back on the road safely and ready to go! 🚗💨

🔧 VW Transporter – Oil Pressure Issues 🔧

Another VW Transporter in with oil pressure problems.

After carrying out diagnosis and investigation, I found the oil pick-up strainer was partially blocked, restricting the oil supply and unfortunately causing premature wear to the big-end bearings.

To put it right, I:

🔧 Replaced the big-end bearings
🔧 Replaced the oil pump
🧼 Thoroughly cleaned the oil pick-up strainer
🧼 Cleaned out the sump
🛢️ Refilled with fresh engine oil
🔄 Fitted new filters

Everything was reassembled, oil pressure checked and the engine tested to make sure everything was operating as it should.

Catching oil pressure problems early can make the difference between a repair like this and a complete engine failure!

Another Transporter repaired and back on the road. 👌

🔧 R56 MINI – Non-Start Battery Fault

This R56 MINI with Start/Stop technology was a complete non-start due to a failed battery.

After confirming the battery had failed, I replaced it with the correct specification battery for the Start/Stop system.

With modern BMW & MINI vehicles, replacing the battery is only part of the job. Using my diagnostic equipment, I then:

✅ Carried out the battery exchange/registration
✅ Coded the replacement battery to the vehicle
✅ Completed the necessary system resets
✅ Checked the vehicle for faults
✅ Tested the starting and charging system

The MINI is now starting perfectly and back on the road. Good as new! 🔧

🔧 Mercedes-Benz – Squeaking Rear Brakes

This Mercedes-Benz came in with loud squeaking brakes that were becoming increasingly noticeable.

After inspecting the braking system, I found the rear brake pads were getting low and the brake discs had developed a significant lip.

I replaced the rear brake pads and discs, applying anti-squeal paste to the appropriate areas of the new pads and contact points on the brake carriers to help prevent unwanted brake noise.

✅ New rear brake pads & discs
✅ Contact points cleaned and lubricated
✅ Anti-squeal paste applied
✅ Brakes checked and tested

🔧 Toyota Avensis – Front Wheel Bearing Replacement

This Toyota Avensis came in with a low droning/rumbling noise while driving.

After carrying out some checks, I diagnosed the fault as a worn front right wheel bearing. Once removed, the problem was clear — as you can see in the video, there was excessive play in the bearing.

I replaced the complete wheel bearing and hub assembly, refitted everything and carried out a road test.

✅ Droning noise eliminated
✅ New wheel bearing & hub fitted
✅ Road tested
✅ Good as new!

🔧 Vauxhall Corsa – Driver’s Door Handle Repair

This Vauxhall Corsa came in with an issue where the driver’s door could no longer be opened using the interior handle.

After removing the door panel and inspecting the mechanism, I found that the door release cable had pulled away from its connecting hook, preventing the handle from operating the latch.

Rather than replacing unnecessary parts, I re-secured and crimped the cable back onto the hook, checked the operation and refitted all components.

✅ Interior door handle working correctly
✅ No unnecessary parts replaced
✅ Door panel refitted and tested
✅ Good as new!

Another straightforward repair keeping the customer’s car working as it should.

🔧 MINI JCW – Rear Brake Replacement 🔧

This MINI John Cooper Works was in for some rear brake maintenance, with the following replaced:

✅ New rear brake discs
✅ New rear brake pads
✅ New brake pad wear sensor

Once fitted, the brake wear indicator was reset and the vehicle checked over, leaving the JCW ready to hit the road again with fresh rear brakes. 🚗💨

🚘 Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d – Front Brake Replacement 🔧

This GLC came in with very noisy front brakes after the customer had previously taken it to a high-street chain garage. They were told the brakes were fine, with 6mm remaining on the front pads and no issues with the discs.

After carrying out my own inspection, I found a very different story:

🔍 Front brake pads worn down to approximately 2mm
🔍 Front brake discs heavily lipped and grooved
🔍 Disc thickness measured below the manufacturer's minimum specification

With the brakes clearly requiring attention, I replaced the front brake discs and pads using genuine Mercedes-Benz parts.

✅ Genuine Mercedes-Benz front discs
✅ Genuine Mercedes-Benz front brake pads
✅ Braking system checked
✅ Road tested to begin the bedding-in process
✅ No more noisy brakes

A good example of why a proper inspection and accurate measurements matter — especially when it comes to something as important as your brakes.
