Quirky little Nissan Figaro in for running issues. This car has had multiple parts fitted my multiple garages to try sort a running issue. Being a basic early style fuel injection system, it has 3 adjusting screws on the inlet manifold to adjust idle speed and fuel enrichment under load. These screws were way out of adjustment and causing various issues on and off boost. A few turns of a screwdriver and boom. Running like a dream. If only they were all that simple 👌🏻🔧.

An interesting job came through the workshop this week. EML light on the dash with multiple codes for EVAP system insufficient flow. Naturally we went straight for the evap control valve which is a common failure point but not in this case. After checking DDTSB, there was a service bulletin suggesting a fault in the EVAP/ charcoal canister. This issue is caused by over filling the fuel tank causing fuel to drain down the breather pipe and into the EVAP canister. To check this it needs to be weighed. Ours was nearly 500g over factory weight meaning it was severely contaminated with fuel causing an obstruction in the system. A new canister was sourced and fitted not without checking the weight. Not what we expected and definitely not something we could have found easily without the help of DDTSB. Problem solved and back to the customer. 👌🏻🔧⛽️

Mazda CX30 in for no heating and a few dash lights. A diagnostic scan revealed multiple codes for a cooling system issue causing a lean condition and running issues. The fault was traced to a low coolant level caused my a leaking radiator. Once a new radiator was fitted with fresh coolant and the system correctly bled, the heating returned and the faults were able to be cleared. After a long test drive, all the faults were fixed and the fuel trims back to normal. Just in time for the winter mornings. 🥶.

Low mileage Audi A1 came in with running issues and an EML light on. However we could smell it before we seen it. It had an extremely strong smell of petrol and a visible leak pouring from the underside. It was quickly determined that the fuel rail was leaking at the injector connection. Somehow one of the securing bolts had snapped off and the seal was damaged allowing the high pressure fuel to spray out. Lucky for the owner it was bought in time before the worst happened 🔥. A full set of genuine seals were fitted and the car was safely back on the road. One very lucky customer

As far as performance estates go, this has to be one of the best. Lovely RS4 in for some subtle mods and suspension arm upgrades. H&R lowering springs has made the stance more appealing and combined with the upgraded top arms and a proper alignment had it driving better than ever. Who doesn’t love a fast family wagon. 👌🏻🔧😍 &R

This Mechatronic unit fault is not something we usually tackle. However it belongs to a friends car and he was in a it of a pickle. After being recovered in on a low loader with no gears, the DSG gearbox was showing faults for no hydraulic pressure. Being common for the valve block cracking, we stripped it completely for inspection. With nothing obvious showing, we took a chance on a replacement valve body and complete seal and service kit. Fully rebuilt with all new seals, filters, oil etc it went back in and worked a treat. Doing the repair this way saved the customer close to £500 compared to getting a complete exchange unit that’s been refurbished. A massive saving with a bit of luck thrown in. Happy days. 🔧🔧🔧👌🏻.

One of the cleanest Land Rover Defenders we’ve had in the workshop. It’s hard to believe this uk example is this good for the year. Just goes to show how well it’s been looked after. Having a major service, every fluid and filter on the car, shows the extent that the current owner goes to in order to keep this Land Rover in tip top condition. The way it should be and the way we like it 👌🏻🔧👍🏻
