It’s been a long road, but finally you made it! And how lucky were you to get another test date so soon after the first unsuccessful attempt? 🍀 Some people would wait months for another chance!

You picked yourself up, learned from the first test, put everything together and came back stronger. 💪

Now you can swap the moped for a car and enjoy the freedom of driving! 🛵➡️🚗😎

Oh… and just a little reminder: don’t go between a lorry and a tractor at a roundabout… you know why! 😂😂

Ioniq 5 test drive at Howard’s Hyundai Dorchester… apparently honesty isn’t the best policy! 😂

Today I had my Hyundai i20 booked in at Howard’s Hyundai Dorchester for its MOT. At the same time, I thought I’d take the opportunity to book a test drive in an Ioniq 5. Nobody asked any questions at that point… excellent! 😎

Then, two days before the appointment, I got a phone call from Elliot asking if I could come 1.5 hours earlier because of a cancellation.

“Hell yeah!” was basically my response. 😂

I turned up, had a little chat with Elliot about my budget and what I was looking for. As always, I was completely honest and explained that, although I really like the Ioniq 5, it was actually bottom of my list because of the price compared with my budget.

Elliot recognised that I probably wasn’t going to be buying an Ioniq 5 from them, so because of insurance and risk, he kindly decided not to let me drive it.

And there goes my test drive. 😭😂

I completely understand the reasoning, but I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. Especially because I’d booked the test drive and was genuinely interested in trying the car.

But here’s the funny part…

FOUR DAYS AGO, I hadn’t even booked a test drive for a Tesla Model 3. I walked in, they basically grabbed me, handed me the keys and let me drive it for 20 minutes completely unsupervised! 😂

So apparently:

Tesla: “Here are the keys. Off you go!” 🤣

Hyundai: “What’s your budget?”
Me: “I’m being honest…”
Hyundai: “Right… maybe you’d better not drive it.” 😂

So, apparently, today’s lesson is:

When booking a test drive, honesty might not actually be the best policy! 🤣

Next time I’ll just say: “Money is no object. I’m definitely buying one. I might even take two.” 😂

No hard feelings towards Elliot — he was genuinely very nice and explained the situation. But I’m still disappointed I didn’t get to experience the Ioniq 5.

Moral of the story: apparently being honest about your budget can be more dangerous than walking into a Tesla showroom with no test drive booked! 😂

🚗⚡ My first experience driving a brand-new Tesla Model 3

As someone who really likes electric cars, I was genuinely excited to get behind the wheel of a brand-new Tesla Model 3. But after my short drive, I have to say… I have mixed feelings! 😅

The first thing that struck me is that this isn't really just another car — it's more like a computer on wheels with a touchscreen.

Changing gear using the screen was probably the weirdest part for me. And the indicators work differently too. 😳

The vast majority of the car's settings and functions are controlled through the touchscreen, which means your attention can be taken away from the road. I'm sure once you've owned one for a while and know exactly where everything is, it becomes much more natural. But during my 15–20 minute drive, I found myself looking at the screen quite a lot and it felt very strange.

But the driving itself? Brilliant! 👌

It's incredibly quiet, smooth and surprisingly powerful. The instant acceleration you get from an electric car never gets boring!

So, would I have one? 🤔

Honestly, I'm still not sure. I absolutely love electric cars, and the Model 3 is impressive, but I'm not completely convinced that putting so many functions behind a touchscreen is the best way forward.

Maybe I just need more than 20 minutes behind the wheel! 😂

🎉 Congratulations to Jayden on passing his driving test today in Dorchester — FIRST TIME! 🚗👏

Jayden decided to put the effort in and get his driving licence, and today all that hard work paid off!

Now he doesn’t need to ask anyone for a lift to and from work anymore — freedom unlocked! 😄

And who would have thought an engine stalling would save the day? 😂 You know exactly why!

SHE’S BACK! 🚗💪

After 2½ long months, my trusty i20 is finally back on the road and ready for duty! 🎉

A little reminder of what happened… I was involved in an accident while my student was doing a mock test. Definitely not how we planned that lesson to go! 😅

My poor i20 then spent 2½ months in the body shop, getting the VIP treatment. 🔧😂

But thankfully, my students didn’t have to wait! I was able to carry on delivering lessons in a replacement car throughout the whole time, so business continued as usual. 🚗👍

And today… my trusty i20 is finally home! ❤️

Fully repaired, looking fantastic and ready to get back to doing what she does best — helping learners build their skills, confidence and become safe drivers.

So, after 2½ months…

🫡 “REPORTING FOR DUTY, SIR!”

Back in action. Back to lessons.

🚗 Passed your driving test? Congratulations! 🎉

The freedom is amazing, and you're probably already looking at the car you've always dreamed of owning... but slow down for a minute.

Before you buy any car, check the insurance cost first!
Insurance premiums can vary massively between different makes and models. Even two versions of the same car with different engine sizes or trim levels can have surprisingly different insurance prices.
