Good morning all on this sunny Saturday morning, as all our regulars know we are very busy this time of year and this year is no different. Our phone line has been exceptionally busy, please remember we have one phone line with 3 handsets so if I’ve answered a call on one the 2nd will ring, then the 3rd. And then there’s a chance we’re with a customer in person. Please, please, please bare with us we’re not ignoring you intentionally we love our customers! Our shop is open Good Friday till 5pm, open Easter Saturday till 12, closed Sunday & Monday, back open as normal on Tuesday. Overview
Due to a significant increase in business, we are now seeking an additional skilled Motorcycle Mechanic to join our workshop team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in motorcycle repair and maintenance. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a small and friendly environment, providing essential services to motorcycle enthusiasts and ensuring optimal performance and safety of motorcycles. The position is full-time but with a potential for negotiation on the number of days worked. This is a great role for individuals passionate about motorbikes and mechanical work.

Duties
• Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of motorcycle models
• brake adjustments, tyre replacements.
• Use hand tools and power tools to disassemble, repair, and reassemble motorcycle components
• Maintain detailed records of all repairs and services performed
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
• Assist customers with technical advice regarding motorcycle maintenance and repairs
• Keep the workshop organised, clean, and safe at all times

Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Motorcycle Mechanic
• Strong mechanical knowledge of motorcycle systems and components
• Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in motorcycle mechanics or automotive technology are advantageous

Applicants should demonstrate a passion for motorcycles and a commitment to delivering quality service. We are looking ideally, to fill a full-time vacancy but we would be happy to discuss part-time at interview.

The full-time hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, with some Saturday mornings. Pay is dependant on experience. Our premises are on Mansfield Road, Derby.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified MOT Tester to join our small and friendly motorcycle repair, MOT and service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests in accordance with legal standards, ensuring vehicles meet safety and environmental requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to utilise their technical expertise within a reputable environment. Applicants must possess relevant qualifications and demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Duties
Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on a variety of motorcycle makes and models, adhering strictly to legal and safety standards
Inspect motorcycle components including brakes, lights, tyres, suspension, exhaust emissions.
Complete detailed online reports of test results on Government website and communicate findings clearly to customers or management
Maintain accurate records of all MOT tests performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times during testing procedures and general workshop activities
Keep the testing bay clean, organised, and compliant with industry standards

Skills
Proven experience as a qualified MOT tester with relevant certifications recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency)
Strong mechanical knowledge of motorcycle systems and components
Proficiency in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers for minor repairs or adjustments
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, including manoeuvring motorcycles safely
Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy during inspections and reporting
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tests efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
Effective communication skills to explain test results clearly to colleagues or customers

This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is able to commit to 2 or 3 days per week, 8am to 5pm between March and October, plus holiday cover, ideally on a self-employed basis but this can be discussed at interview.

Don't lose your daily commute!
We've noticed in the last week a vast increase in motorcycle thefts. Security is always cheaper than an insurance claim and the more security you have on your bike the less likely they'll try to steal it.
