Today we were at the Horsham Historics Preservation Society Autojumble at Ardingly-South of England Showground.

Probably one of the busiest we have seen, both from a stalls and visitors point of view. We managed to pick up a lovely Maidstone & District illuminated notice board for the collection.

A quick trip into London this afternoon to the “2026 St James’s Motoring Spectacle”

This is basically a showcase of some of the cars ready for the VCC London to Brighton run on tomorrow.

There was some modern as well, including some very interesting race cars!

1978 MG B GT

Replacing the MGA in 1962, production of the MGB continued until 1980. Sales for the MGB, MGC and MGB GT V8 totalled over 500,000 cars.

This MG B GT was first registered on the 19th December 1978 in Portsmouth, more recently it has spent a number of years in West Sussex.

This car is very much a project, it does start and run with good oil pressure and the engine sounds well.

The car has been stood for a number of years and will require work, to get it back on its feet.

There are various good points, and some work has been carried out recently, however for various reasons the project has stalled.

1955 Ferguson TEF20

The Ferguson TE20 is an agricultural tractor designed by Harry Ferguson. By far his most successful design, it was manufactured from 1946 until 1956, and was commonly known as the Little Grey Fergy.

This 1955 Ferguson TEF20 is the diesel version of the range, and has been with a private collector in West Sussex for a number of years. The engine starts, and runs very well, it has good oil pressure and the engine doesn’t breath. The transmission is in working order, the clutch is as a Fergy should be and all gears select.

The Ferguson is an older restoration and is now being offered for work or play, she could so with a few jobs doing over the winter to smarten her up, and the hydraulics will need attention but it’s a great little starter project for someone.

1937 Austin 7 Ruby

The Ruby and Pearl model were introduced towards the end of the Seven production and represented quite a refined car compared with its earlier siblings. The interior was well trimmed, the seats comfortable and it had a front opening windscreen, sliding sunroof and wind-down windows to the front and rear. Still powered by the 747cc engine, the four-speed gearbox boasted synchromesh in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears.

This Austin 7 Ruby was first registered on the 18th June 1937 in Bournemouth, more recently the car has spent a number of years in Hampshire.

The engine on this little Austin is very sweet, and is genuinely one of the best we have heard. The engine has been rebuilt and has also been fitted with a remote oil filter assembly.

The drivetrain is in excellent condition, the clutch is smooth and the gears are direct. It is a pleasure to drive and has good tyres all round, the brakes are very good for one of these and it bombs along nicely.

The bodywork is very solid, it is as clean on the underside as it is on top. The car is an older restoration and the paintwork has now mellowed nicely. It polishes up and shines, it is not immaculate but presents well.

The interior is largely original, the front seat swabs have been retrimmed but has a good look about it.

We have a history file which includes the current V5.

1924 Rhode Light Four

The Rhode was a British car made from 1921 to 1930. Mead and Deakin Ltd had started in business making cycle and motor cycle components, in 1921 they created a subsidiary company called the Rhode Motor Co with a factory at Blythswood Road, Tyseley, Birmingham producing cars.

This Rhode Light Four was first registered in 1924, and it is said to have been one of the first vehicles to join the Beaulieu Motor Museum. More recently it has spent a number of years in West Sussex but originally was first registered in Gloucester.

The engine on this car is very sweet, it has an over head cam arrangement which allows for better performance compared to others of a similar era. It starts and runs very well, there is no frost damage and sounds great.

The drivetrain is quiet, the clutch is smooth and the gear change is direct, it bombs a long nicely and the brakes are surprisingly good for a pre war car!

The body style is known as a Light Four, the car has been restored to a high standard in the past and the bodywork still remains in good order. It is very solid and the underside is clean, neat and tidy. The paintwork was also finished to a good standard and although not immaculate does still present very nicely.

The interior was retrimmed during the restoration, and the hood looks to have been replaced at the same time, which is still water tight and in good condition. It also comes with a full tonneau cover.

We have a large amount of paperwork, which also includes the current V5.
