Surrey Hills Classics are proud to offer this stunning 1967 MGC Roadster with just 5 previous owners.
Intended as a flagship sports car to replace the Austin-Healey 3000, the MG C was introduced in the autumn of 1967. Based around the two-door monocoque bodyshell of the humble MGB (albeit with a substantially altered engine bay and floorpan), the newcomer was powered by a 2912cc OHV straight-six engine allied to either a new heavy-duty, all-synchromesh, four-speed manual overdrive gearbox, or three-speed automatic transmission. Other mechanical differences included: a larger radiator, torsion-bar front suspension, telescopic dampers and lower geared rack and pinion steering. The C was visually distinguished from the B by its ‘power bulge’ bonnet and taller 15-inch wheels. With some 145bhp and 170lbft of torque, the model could complete the 0-60mph dash in around 10 seconds and hit 120mph flat out. Sadly, too readily confused with its smaller-engined brother, it was axed in 1969 after just 4,544 Roadsters and 4,458 GTs are understood to have been made. Now 59 years later, the MGC’s lack of period sales success only serves to make it more collectible.
“PYH 14F” was built on the 13th December 1967 and was then despatched just 14 days later. Originally Old English White, this particular home market example went through an extensive restoration back in 2000 during which it was resprayed in a lovely blue.
It is believed to of done just 3,391 miles since the restoration was completed, and this certainly isn’t hard to believe as it’s still showing in absolutely outstanding condition throughout.
“PYH 14F” has had a popular and beneficial upgrade of adjustable Spax telescopic dampers all round, ensuring this MGC handles perfectly, of which it does just that! The engine, gearbox and overdrive all run and work silky smooth, just how an MGC should drive.
The MGC benefits from a full and a half tonneau cover, along with a correct spare wheel.
Overall this is a stunning example of an MGC Roadster which must be seen to be appreciated.
