If you're heading off anywhere for the holidays this weekend:

1) Make sure that your fluids are all topped up - engine oil, brake fluid and screenwash.

2) Double check your tyres - you don't want to be on motorways doing higher speeds and find they aren't in great shape!

3) Brakes - sounds daft but are they working well? Any noise when you use them? Have you tried an emergency stop lately?

4) Turn your lights on and try the indicators etc - have someone check as you try to make sure no bulbs have gone.

5) Pack some drinks and snacks, emergency triangle etc in the car...just in case!

🔧 IMPORTANT MOT SERVICE UPDATE 🔧

The DVSA is currently experiencing a nationwide technical issue with its MOT testing system, which is affecting MOT testing centres.

The DVSA has confirmed that they are working to resolve the problem, but there is currently no indication of when the system will be back up and running.

Unfortunately, this is completely out of our control, and we apologise for any disruption to customers with MOT appointments booked.

We will keep you updated as soon as the DVSA provides further information.

🌧️ RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY… BUT DON’T FORGET TO CHECK YOUR TYRES! 🚗💦

Autumn is here, which means wet roads, puddles galore and some rather soggy journeys! So, before you head out, here are a few things to keep in mind to help you stay safe behind the wheel.

💧 Watch out for aquaplaning!
When there's a lot of water on the road, your tyres can lose contact with the road surface and glide on a layer of water instead. This is known as aquaplaning, and it can make steering and braking much more difficult, increasing the risk of skidding.

🚗 Ease off the accelerator.
Slow down when driving in wet conditions and leave plenty of extra space between you and the vehicle in front. If you need to brake, do so smoothly and gently, avoiding sudden braking or steering.

🛞 Give your tyres some TLC!
Your tyre tread helps channel water away to maintain grip, so it's important to check your tyres regularly, especially as the wetter weather sets in. Worn tyres and wet roads are not a good combination!
