Today we had an Audi in the garage for a timing belt & water pump replacement.

The timing belt is one of those parts you really don’t want to ignore. If it fails, it can cause serious and expensive engine damage.

Replacing the water pump at the same time makes sense too – both parts are in the same area, saving extra labour and helping avoid another big job later.

This 2016 Peugeot 2008 1.6 HDi came in for a timing belt kit and water pump replacement.

Why is it so important to replace your timing belt on time?

Timing belts don’t last forever. Over time, the rubber deteriorates, the teeth wear down and the risk of the belt snapping increases – often with very little warning.

And when it does snap, things can get expensive very quickly.

If the timing belt fails while the engine is running, the pistons and valves can collide, potentially causing:
🔹 Bent valves
🔹 Damaged pistons
🔹 Cylinder head damage
🔹 In serious cases, complete engine failure

💡 Replacing your timing belt as preventative maintenance is far cheaper than repairing a damaged engine.

Not every repair starts with ordering a new part.
Sometimes we take on jobs that are a little more challenging. Parts may be unavailable, have long delivery times, or simply cost far more than they should.

That's why we always sit down with our customers, explain every option, discuss the costs, and find the solution that makes the most sense.

In this case, after carefully assessing the damage, we agreed that the best option was to professionally repair and weld the damaged section rather than replace the entire component.

This Mercedes came to us with a leaking A/C condenser (air conditioning radiator), causing the refrigerant to escape and the air conditioning to stop working properly.

To restore the system, we carried out:
✅ Front-end disassembly for safe access.
✅ Replacement of the faulty A/C condenser.
✅ Full system vacuum test to remove moisture and check for leaks.
✅ Recharge with the correct amount of refrigerant.
✅ Final performance and pressure checks.

The result? ❄️
The air conditioning is now cooling exactly as it should, with the system operating perfectly and no leaks detected.
