🔧 2015 Hyundai ix35 – Clutch Diagnosis & Replacement 🔧

We were contacted by the owner of this 2015 Hyundai ix35 after experiencing clutch-related issues and difficulty selecting gears.

🔍 The Diagnosis

On initial inspection, the clutch biting point appeared to be within the expected range, and there were no obvious signs of clutch slip. However, the vehicle was still struggling to engage all gears correctly.

With all gear linkage cables intact, correctly adjusted and operating as they should, we proceeded with a more in-depth investigation, which required the removal of the gearbox.

⚠️ The Root Cause

As soon as the clutch assembly was removed, the fault became immediately apparent.

As shown in the photos, the springs within the clutch friction plate had snapped in one section of the plate. This damage was compromising the clutch assembly’s ability to operate correctly, resulting in difficulties when selecting gears.

✅ The Repair

A complete 3-piece clutch kit was fitted, restoring the clutch system’s correct operation.

Apologies for the lack of social updates recently we have been absolutely flat out.. 🚗💨🔧

2011 Mercedes sprinter..

Customer was in contact after realising his MOT had expired and was experiencing “check brake wear” on the dash..

On inspection it was evident that the brakes front and rear was extremely worn wearing through all wear sensors and creating a excessive lip on all discs, on removal of the rears the brake shoe lining was coming away from the backing plate and by the time we had removed the shoe for replacement it had completely came away!

Front discs and pads supplied and fitted.. ✅

Rear discs and pads supplied and fitted.. ✅

Rear brake shoes supplied and fitted.. ✅

Side marker re wired and new lens and bulb holder supplied and fitted.. ✅

New front reg plate supplied and fitted.. ✅

Mot test carried out and another one back on the road trouble free.. ✅

2015 Volkswagen Tiguan..

Customer was in contact after the airbag light illuminated on the dashboard of his vehicle and remained illuminated..

Initial diagnostics revealed a fault code relating to the driver’s side airbag igniter, indicating the upper limit had been reached.

Further investigation and testing identified additional issues, with both the steering wheel buttons and horn inoperative. After tracing the faults, we confirmed an internal failure within the clock spring.. ❌

To ensure the correct replacement part was ordered, the vehicle was stripped down to verify the exact part number with the main dealer. The vehicle was then carefully reassembled, and a replacement clock spring has now been ordered.. ✅

Customer was in contact after realising his service was over due, also having a defective wiper blade that won’t stay flat to the screen..

2014 Volkswagen Golf..

Customer was in contact after starting issues 1st thing in the morning when the car was cold, coming into these colder mornings again..

After diagnosis we found that the glow plugs were looking worse for wear and cylinder 1 was sized in situ..

After a small battle cylinder 1 glow plug was free and all 4 replaced, battery test also resulted in a poor battery requiring replacement..

2015 Ford Kuga..

Customer was in contact after receiving a few quotes from a few other garages and opted to go with us when he discovered a grinding noise from the rear and car unable to reverse and locking up..

On inspection it was noted that the O/S/R inner brake pad had worn completely away and was now braking on the actual piston itself! With the piston being extended fully out this has caused a fluid leak and causing the piston to wedge into such a position when trying to reverse the vehicle the piston was acting as a wheel caulk against the disc..

New discs and pads supplied and fitted.. ✅

New O/S/R calliper supplied and fitted.. ✅

Brake fluid change and system fully flushed.. ✅

2016 Renault Traffic..

Customer was in contact after hearing a grinding noise from the rear of the vehicle. On inspection it was evident the brakes were metal to metal at the rear and the front pads 90% worn..

2020 Ford Transit Custom..

Customer was in contact after discovering an oil leak with there vehicle, upon inspection we found the oil filter to be corroded from the outside in and leaking..

This shows the importance of routine servicing and how the small cost every year could save you a fortune in the long run, this specific van was driven from Dundee to Aberdeen and had oil covering the complete underside and up the back doors. This could have very easy led to catastrophic engine failure and have been significantly worse but was caught just in time..

Bonnet latch free’d off.. ✅

2019 ford transit custom..

Customer was in contact after developing a scoring scratching sound from the n/s/f wheel..

After further investigation it was found that the disc was split in 2 half’s after excessive wear..

New discs and pads supplied and fitted.. ✅
