Thirty-five years ago, one student and one teacher shared a passion for automotive repair in a high school classroom. What started as a simple interest in learning and working with their hands became the beginning of a journey neither of them could have imagined.
Life came full circle 35 years later, when destiny brought that same student and teacher back together again — now united by the same values, the same passion for the industry, and the same belief in helping others grow.
Today, that passion for learning, teaching, and serving others continues to guide Mark Kharfan - MK Auto Group and Dean Bitman - CBE.
Through hard work, perseverance, and the support of many incredible people along the way, that small beginning grew into something much bigger than automotive repair. MK Auto Group has become a team of more than 270 people who share a commitment to growth, teamwork, integrity, and community.
The vision has always been simple — create opportunities for others, build a culture where people are supported and empowered to grow, continue learning every day, and make a positive impact both inside and outside the workplace.
From mentoring future leaders and supporting careers in the trades, to giving back to local communities across Alberta, the focus has never only been about fixing vehicles. It has always been about building people, relationships, and a culture rooted in respect, humility, and purpose.
This is a legacy story that reminds us that dreams can come true when you stay committed, work hard, and continue believing in the journey — even when you cannot yet see where it will lead.
Thirty-five years later, the passion remains the same — and so does the gratitude for everyone who has been part of the journey.
