Here's what a serious Silverado 2500 exhaust upgrade looks like.

We've just unpacked this Manta Performance 4-inch to 5-inch full exhaust system for the 2020-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, and it's an impressive bit of gear.

Designed for the mighty 6.6L Duramax, the full system features a 3.5-inch dump pipe from the turbo, moving into 4-inch mandrel-bent pipework before finishing with a huge 5-inch tailpipe.

The result is a system designed to support:

- Improved exhaust flow

- That deeper Duramax exhaust note

This RAM 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI is getting some fairly major surgery in the Welshpool Auto Service workshop.

We're carrying out a camshaft and lifter replacement, a job that requires extensive disassembly to get right. As the photo shows, sometimes working on these big American trucks means getting well beyond what you'd expect from an everyday mechanical repair!

Camshaft and lifter issues are something 5.7 HEMI owners should be aware of. Symptoms can include:

- Ticking or tapping noises from the engine
- Misfires or rough running
- Check engine light
- Loss of power or poor performance
- Metal contamination in the engine oil
- Camshaft and lifter wear or failure

Correct diagnosis is important before pulling an engine apart. Once we've confirmed the problem, our team can carry out the repair properly and replace the affected components to get the HEMI back where it should be.

Quite a few big jobs on at the moment in the engine room. Silverado top overhaul,Ford V8 supercar overhaul,Iveco 8.5L overhaul, Ford Raptor 6.2 full rebuild,Ram 5.7 full rebuild and a little Toyota. No rest for the wicked 😴

F250-F350 owners with upper sump oil leaks. Fit an early sump which has a gasket, not just silicone sealing it. If you get your original sump resealed it will only leak again. Fitting an early sump is the only answer. And yes you can do it with the engine in place.
