Here we have a 2011 VW Polo with DSG transmission issues.
Scanning the transmission module revealed a fault code.: P0736B - Unable to select 6th gear.
There is a known issue with the selector fork bushings.
The selector fork in question is responsible for reverse and 6th.
Due to the offset of the fork VW decided to use caged ball bearings to reduce side load friction on the bushings.
Unfortunately the cage that holds the bearings breaks over time jamming the fork and preventing it selecting gears.
The repair requires removal and disassembly of the gearbox.
Although the part is relatively cheep the labour time is extensive.
Repair time can be 8-10hrs and experience is essential when carrying out this repair.
