Vintage New Holland 💫
How awesome is this picture a gentleman has just brought into the shop!
This is a 1904 New Holland engine, developing 2.5 horsepower at 200–500 rpm. While modest by today's standards, this engine was an important piece of machinery in its day and helped lay the foundations for what would become one of the world's most recognised agricultural brands.
One of its most interesting features is its unusual cooling hopper design. The shape allowed water to be left in the engine during frosty weather, with any ice able to expand upwards rather than outwards. This clever design helped prevent cracked engine block due to the ice.
More than 120 years later, it's amazing to see these early examples of engineering still being appreciated and remembered. A fantastic piece of New Holland history!🙌
Think your old machinery deserves a spot in the history books? Send us a photo! Bonus points if it still fires up 🚜
