Motorsports Tasmania

Motorsports Tasmania Motorsports Tasmania manages the two predominant raceways in Tasmania Symmons Plains Raceway is located on Midland Highway some 30km south of Launceston.

Motorsports Tasmania Pty Ltd was established in October 2000 to take control of the two circuit racing venues in the state by Purchasing Baskerville Raceway, near Hobart and Symmons Plains Raceway. The track is known for several interesting features including its very long back straight with a kink, its extremely tight hairpin bend at the end of the front straight and the unusual placement of the

original start/finish line and grid that was on a curve. Baskerville Raceway is located in Hobart’s northern suburb of Old Beach and is set in a natural amphitheatre with spectators able to sit in their cars and view the entire circuit. Contact numbers are as follows;

Some say cross country running is a winter sport....yesterday certainly proved it!

The All Schools Athletics event at Buckby Motors Symmons Plains Raceway attracted more than 2,000 primary school students, along with around 3,500 parents and grandparents, who ensured rain and constant drizzle throughout what was probably Athletics Tasmania's biggest cross country event ever.

Despite the challenging weather, it was fantastic to see so many young athletes out competing and enjoying the day.

We would also like to thank all the parents and spectators for their patience when exiting the venue. To minimise the risk of vehicles becoming bogged, we directed parking onto hard surface areas wherever possible, including parking a couple of hundred cars on the race circuit.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success.

The Baskerville Foundation yet again progressing the safety projects at Bulk Nutrients Baskerville Raceway to the appreciation of all that use the facility.

We are extremely pleased to announce our next Foundation project is to commence in a weeks time using some of the funds from last years Baskerville Historics and the extremely generous donation of $10,000 from the Hobart Sporting Car Club. The ploughed earth trap between the pit entry road and the Tilford Bridge will be replaced with a reshaped gravel trap using the appropriate sized and shaped stone same as at the top of the hill. This project has been at the top of our to do list for some time now and we are excited to see this critical safety upgrade occur. Please be mindful that the track will be closed for 2 weeks whilst this work takes place from the 22nd to 4th July. Thanks again HSCC for your ongoing support and for everyone that has contributed to the Foundation in your own way, together we can keep the vision going.

If you have some time on the 27th, and would like to help out, it would be appreciated.

The Outback Car Trek 2026 - Supporting the Royal Flying Doctors Service

The Trek commenced on Saturday 30th May on the banks of the Murray River in Albury NSW, before winding its its way through regional Victoria and crossing Bass Strait into the rugged beauty of Tasmania. Participants enjoyed some of our state's spectacular back roads, picturesque countryside and unique attractions along their journey.

For many of the Trekkers, this was their first visit to Tasmania, providing an opportunity to experience the island's renowned hospitality, stunning landscapes and diverse touring routes.

The event concluded at Buckby Motors Symmons Plains Raceway on Sunday 7th June, marking the end of an incredible journey that not only showcased some of Australia's finest regional destinations, but also raised vital funds to support the lifesaving work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Motorsports Tasmania was proud to welcome the Trek participants to Tasmania and congratulate everyone involved on another successful event of this important cause.
