My passion started as a young boy growing up, fascinated by anything with an engine and wheels, also an intriguing nature that led me to pull apart things just to find out how they work. So it was pretty clear from an early stage that being a mechanic was inevitable. So fresh out of high school in 1998, I completed year 11 in 1999 with my main focus being the Mechanical Pre-vocational course, then
come the beginning of year 2000 at age 16 my apprenticeship started as the very first intake of apprentices with TACC. The next 4 years were spent with various small workshops in the Hobart area, then settling into a permanent position with a small workshop specializing in European vehicles which laid the foundations of well rounded experience. Then in 2006 I started a role at Hobart BMW as a motorcycle technician, something new and fresh to re-engage my interests, this was my first experience in a dealership, even though a small one that still had that family feel. During my time at Hobart BMW I worked my way from a basic technician to reaching the highest levels of internal BMW Group accreditation, Motorrad Master Technician (the first and only in Tasmania) and Diagnostic Technician in vehicles, the internal training offered to me by BMW Group in Victoria, Sydney and New Zealand was amazing, with a strong focus on electrical diagnostics. After reaching these levels the next opportunity that came was to manage the workshop at Hobart BMW which with great help and support from fellow employees was a successful time with lots on insight on how a business should run and operate.
