2026 SSWA Hall of Fame Inductee – Ian Beard

Speedway Sedans Western Australia is proud to announce the fourth inductee into the 2026 SSWA Hall of Fame – Ian Beard.

For more than 30 years, Ian was one of the most respected and dedicated officials in Western Australian Speedway Sedans.

As a scrutineer, he officiated at more than 80 WA State Titles and numerous National Titles, travelling thousands of kilometres from Geraldton to ensure competitors could race safely and fairly.

His commitment to the sport was legendary, with his familiar green ute often the first to arrive at a title and the last to leave after every piece of equipment had been packed away.

Ian's remarkable service has already been recognised through the Ian Beard Best Presented Car Award, presented at every SSWA State Title. His selfless dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to Speedway Sedans have left a lasting legacy, making him a truly deserving inductee into the SSWA Hall of Fame.

Ian Beard is the fourth name to be announced as part of the 2026 SSWA Hall of Fame class, and will officially be inducted on Saturday the 12th of September, 2026, so to be part of the celebrations, make sure you purchase your tickets at www.trybooking.com/DOHZL

A huge contingent of Geraldton City Speedway members headed north over the weekend to Shark Bay Speedway Club for the 39th Far Western Championship and they absolutely delivered!

JUNIORS
Our Junior New Stars, Colton Beaver, Vaughan Beaver, Pippa Francis, Daniel Lotter and Katilyn Tate along with Kaylee Francis in Junior Top Stars, put on a brilliant show.
⭐ Colton Beaver took out the Feature win in the New Stars, with Kaitlyn Tate right behind him in 2nd. Awesome effort from our young racers.

STREET STOCKS
Great representation from Dave Herbert, Cade Munro and Mick Reynolds, who were right in the thick of the action all day.

PRODUCTION SEDANS
Mason Fenner, Luke Davidson and Mick Roberts battled hard, with Mason narrowly missing the podium and finishing 4th after a strong run.

MODIFIED SEDANS
Ash Baker and Rob Hillbrick were nominated for Modified Sedans, with Ash leading the Feature for a good portion before crossing the line in 2nd after a tough fight.

SUPERMODS
James Berry and Russell Leach competed in Supermods, and James Berry came away with the win to cap off a great day for the club.

ANNUAL CLUB CHALLENGE
With strong results across multiple divisions, Geraldton claimed victory in the Annual Club Challenge against Shark Bay and Carnarvon!

Fantastic results across the board, well done to all Geraldton City Speedway drivers who competed at the 39th Far Western Championship. You’ve done the club proud!
