TRIGGER WARNING.

If you are a Mazda purist, then look away now!!

Had this unique combination on the dyno for some testing, and it didn’t disappoint.

What an awesome machine. After driving this thing on the dyno and on the road, it’s safe to say that this car will be a track weapon.
The Mazda handling and the LS engine torque are a great combination.

Thank you Ash for trusting Hi Comp with another of our special vehicles.
Hope to see you on the racetrack soon.
Enjoy all that power and torque.

It’s almost time to put Jacob in the Hi Comp Drag Camaro. But he needs a little more practice first.
He’s raced a few times, but his stock Nissan pulsar only does 16 seconds.

We are kindly looking to borrow someone’s car for a night at the drag’s for Jacob to drive, so he can feel something faster than 135 kph

Nothing too fast. 12 or 13 seconds maximum.
We will pay your entry fee to the drags, buy your dinner, and pay an amount of $$$ for your troubles.

Can anyone please help us out.
Kindly let us know.

WORKSHOP RECORD SMASHED!!

This tough as nails VK Commodore has smashed the current shop record for a naturally aspirated 355 stroker Iron Lion engine by a huge margin.

The previous best power was held by a Torana at 448 RWHP. This VK has just done 505 RWHP, with a Lamprecht Race Engines combo from Queensland Australia.

Our job was to tune the engine for street duties, which was a little challenging since it has a 1000 plus cfm APD Carby atop the engine.

We also tuned the Haltech VMS ECU to control ignition timing. We installed a remote mount TPS sensor for full 3D ignition mapping with great resolution on our timing numbers.

The intermediate fuel circuit on the APD carb made low speed fueling pretty close to perfect, and the ability to tightly control ignition timing will make this car a breeze to drive at all speeds.

Thank you Iliya for trusting Hi Comp with this absolute weapon. We greatly appreciate you letting us have free rein on the car to get the job done.
Enjoy all that power.

This week at Hi Comp.

Sometimes, something happens that makes you think that life, and the people in it aren’t so bad.
Today was one of those times.

My good friend and customer, Colin, has been getting his HZ Ute looked after by Hi Comp for about twenty years.

We fitted a GM Performance 350 Vortech crate motor to the car almost two decades ago. Then about six years ago, we fitted our first prototype twin Weber manifold to the engine with great success.

The car was in this week for a simple service. Nothing fancy.

When it was time to settle the bill, Colin left a very generous tip.
I said “why such a generous tip for such a small job?”
Colin replied “Joe, the gift is well deserved, as you always go to the extra effort with the car”

Of course there was a little back and forth between us, “No no, it’s too much, and so on. But Colin insisted.

There are some things in life more important than money.
Great clients and friends like Colin.
The satisfaction of doing a good job.
Being able to make people happy, and being able to keep customers coming back for twenty years or more.

Colin, your gesture today was very humbling. You are a great bloke, and it’s been my privilege to look after you and your Holden HZ for so long.

Thank you for your friendship and support. God bless you and your family.

We are happy to announce our return to regular racing after a long hiatus. We ran at this week’s test and tune after fitting new tires, new windows, and a new cooling system.

It was great to be back in the drivers seat and i’m happy to say that the car has not lost any performance over the last few years. I was able to complete 3 full passes with the best of 8.9s @ 152mph.

I’d like to thank everyone who came out to support us. Johann Di Giorgio, Jacob Di Giorgio, Dimitri Tambourantzis, Karen Seguna, Anthony Fenton, Maddie and Sarah, Whitney and Aaron, a massive thank you for all your support and for making it a great day.

Rare as hen’s teeth, this Mitsubishi Sigma in for a dyno tune.

When this car showed up and the owner said it had twin Webers, I was expecting side draft DCOE’s.
I certainly wasn’t expecting 2x Weber 34 ADM carbs, as fitted to the Ford XE/XF Falcon.

After 34 years of tuning carbys, I have never seen two of these paired together on a 4 cylinder engine before.

Nonetheless, they are still carbys, and I haven’t met a carburettor that I couldn’t tune.

We reconfigured the linkages, throttle cable, and fuel lines, regraphed the distributor, and jetted the carbs, until the 2.6 litre Astron engine was running as close as possible to perfection.

The high mileage Astron didn’t do too bad, at just over 130 hp, but now drives smoothly with no flat spots, or fouling plugs, with sharpness and responsiveness restored.

Thank you Daniel for your patience and patronage.
I know you waited a long time to get in.
You were a great guy to deal with, and a true gentleman.
It was a blast working on this rare and unique gem.
Enjoy your extra power.

This gorgeous Mustang in for horsepower check.

We did some major engine work on this car late last year, and it made just over 340 hp on our dyno. Respectable, but could’ve been better.

The owner, and our team agreed that something just didn’t feel right.
The transmission was suspected to be the issue. So the owner had the transmission rebuilt with all the good stuff.

The exhaust system, rearward of the headers was also replaced with a better system.

A honest 20 plus horsepower gain was the result. No tuning adjustments were made to the engine. Just better equipment bolted onto the car. Booh Yaahh !!!!!

Thank you Joe for your patronage, and for being a great bloke. Enjoy your extra power.
