This week at Hi Comp.

This gorgeous Mustang Fastback in for a dyno tune.

We decided to replace the old vacuum secondary carby with a new Holley double pumper, with all the modern features like four corner idle, and latest emulsion stack configurations. This makes for a much better result when tuning the carb.
As always we tune the ignition as well, with a fully regraphed distributor to match the engine’s needs.

This engine ended up making great power for a 302 capacity cruiser.

This week at Hi Comp.

This semi famous LJ Torana back in the workshop for another dyno tune.

This is the Torana from the “World’s fairest Carby to EFI swap” YouTube video.
It’s just had another round of modifications to take it to yet another level.

How about a Nexus ECU, crank trigger, six ignition coils, two knock sensors with closed loop knock control and re**rd per cylinder, idle control and more. This is about the highest development level for a good ol Holden six.

It made a little more power than in the YouTube video, about 13 more horsepower, for a total of 181 HP.
Please keep in mind that this is a temporary engine, with a largely un modified 9 port head, and mild camshaft.
The new engine is currently being built, and will feature a custom crankshaft, alloy head, and more aggressive cam.

But for now, the engine runs smooth as silk, and starts cold or hot with no throttle input, as expected with all this gear.

Last Week at Hi Comp.

With all the action thats been going on inside and outside of the workshop, I am a little late in letting everyone know about the amazing success that our good friend and star client Anthony Fenton has had at the KOTS event last Saturday.

The Fentech VX Commodore ran like a train all night, never missed a beat, and slayed all who raced him in qualifying. Unfortunately, Anthony was bumped out in the second round, after succumbing to wheel spin, due to extra boost being produced by the cooler evening air.

Well that’s racing for you.

We all had a blast though, and it was a great evening of fast cars, and good friends.

Congratulations Anthony on a great drive, and thanks for taking Jacob as your co pilot.

This week at Hi Comp.

A big weekend for us at Hi Comp, with our first year apprentice Jacob obtaining his drag racing license in the Hi Comp Camaro.

Five runs were completed starting with half passes, though to two full passes with three parachute pulls.
All were full launches.

A best run of 8.9 seconds at 152 mph was achieved.

This week at Hi Comp.

This week saw the completion of a beautiful VL Turbo that’s been over 15 years in the making.

This car was built by owner Steve in the 90s. He’s been cruising the streets N/A with 150hp ever since… until now.

Sometimes, life gets in the way of our plans and stops us from doing what we want to do to our own cars. But finally, the time was right and the trigger was pulled, and here we are.

This turbo kit was custom made right here at Hi Comp, including all custom intercooler piping, custom exhaust, and everything in between. We had Cameron from CJ Performance Auto-Electrical come out and wire in a Haltech Nexus S3 and UC10 Dash, allowing us to run closed loop boost control, closed loop idle control, closed loop knock control, and of course closed loop fuel control. Also installed was a new light weight clutch and flywheel to accomodate for the extra power.

There is still plenty more power to be made, with the car still running a standard fuel system and a standard catback exhaust.

Thank you Steve for giving us this amazing opportunity to make an all time dream of yours come true. It was a blast having it in the workshop and a pleasure to deal with a gentleman such as yourself.
We know you and the family will enjoy the extra power.

This week at Hi Comp.

This tuff as nails Torana in for a dyno tune.

With its LS engine and Haltech Elete 2500 ECU, we just knew this was going to be a ton of fun to tune.

Falling fuel pressure in the upper part of the run had us checking for restrictions in the fuel system. We quickly found an almost fully blocked fuel filter. This had the removable and washable element, so we were back on track in no time, with the fuel pressure now at 60 psi dead stable throughout the run, we were able to dial our fuel numbers and trims down to a tee.

Just check the power numbers. This thing is going to be a great drive wherever you’re going.
