We have just had a big couple of nights at the factory where the Le Mans Entertainment Karting Academy students attended to have a look at where, and how Sabre Racing Cars build the Sabre 02 and 02B cars. Over the two nights we introduced around 150 students and their parents to Formula Vee.

Students toured the fabrication and assembly area as well as the race workshop where they got to look over the cars, and have a sit in them and learn what it takes to get a car on the track.

Daniel gave a talk on how our engineers and driver coaches utilise MoTec data to train drivers, and improve both driver and car performance. Both Nathan and Declan gave talks on their experience on graduating from the academy and their progression into racing Formula Vee with our team. They were both supported by their parents who also gave details on their own experiences of the same transition from a parents perspective.

Brock Hamilton, one of the LeMans Karting Academy coaches and Formula Vee driver also brought down his F3 for people to view.

A raffle on each night saw few lucky students go home with a gift.

Hopefully all attendees took something away from the event, and we hope that we see some of the young boys and girls joining the Victorian Formula Vee grid in the future.

Late Sunday report for races 2 and 3 for the weekend.

Race two didn't go to plan after Nathan Jones whilst doing a good job sitting with the front pack on a wet and greasy track, needed to take to the grass to avoid a spinning car meaning he had a recovery drive on his hands. Ultimately the best result he could achieve was nineth.

Declan who clearly walked under a ladder on his way to break a mirror or two on his way to the track this weekend, again sustained damage as he collected a spinning car when he had nowhere to go. He finished the final lap of the race to come home in 18th place.

The team again had Declan's car promptly repaired and ready for the final race for the round.

Race 3 was held on a damp circuit making it tricky for all the drivers. Both guys had good starts. Nathan resumed his race 2 form hanging with the lead pack of seven cars, meanwhile Declan was busy fighting his way forward. A safety car period interupted proceedings for a couple of laps and when racing resumed the battle at the front started to heat up. The final lap saw the leader leave the circuit at the tight Turn 4 which created a bit of concertina mayhem behind which out of, Nathan found himself in fifth place. Declan had cleared his weekend curse and with some good driving fought his way up into a credible 11th place to finish up pretty happy after a difficult weekend.

Great work from the team all weekend thanks team, and thank you also to the two young helpers, Oscar and Hayden, that assisted around the garage for the weekend, good job fellas. We hope both guys can join the Formula Vee grid in the future.

Next round will be at Winton Raceway on the 2nd - 4th of October.

Not exactly the Race 1 the team was hoping for today for both of the drivers.

Lap 1 saw Nathan taking to the grass at Turn 1 which had him dropping to near the back of the field and leaving him with a race load of work to do.

On lap 2 Declan found himself the victim of a mishap a few cars ahead, leading to him having absolutely no warning of the car immediately ahead making a sudden hard break and subsequently making contact. A bent front end, steering and some other damage left him stranded at the exit of Turn 1.

A multi-lap safetycar closed the field up which gave Nathan a chance to try and make some lost ground.

At the chequred flag, Nathan had climbed back up to 9th place.

Once the cars were back at the garage, the team set to work on Declans car and now have this fixed and ready to go for races 2 and 3 tomorrow.

It is looking like there may be potential for changing and inclement weather tomorrow, so that should make for some entertaining racing.

Overall, and pleasingly, Sabre 02's continue to dominate and filled the podium with the closest of finishes between Andre Curin, and Ash Quiddington, with Andre awarded the win based on photo review. A short distance back Blake Purvis crossed the line to finish in third. Congratulations guys, you put on some good racing.

Qualifying done and it has been a mixed bag result for the team.

Declan will start Race 1 from 19th after slapping the wall and the bottom of Dandenong Road corner. Whilst still drivable, after having the car checked in the pits, he rejoined the session to try and set some sort of a time whilst carring a bent axle. With the car now repaired, Declan will be carving his way back up the order.

Nathan put in his best ever qualifying performance setting the fourth fastest time. With a second row start, he will be right in it.

Race 1 will be on at 1:17pm and is streamed live on YouTube via BlendlineTV.

A solid and productive practice day at Sandown today in preparation for this weekends round of the Victorian State Race Series championship.

Both Declan and Nathan put in great sessions getting themselves dialled in, the cars set up, and tyre preparation completed.

We are also joined this weekend by Oscar. Highly motivated, Oscar is keen to begin his step up from karting journey, and is using the opportunity this weekend to get a feel for how the team, and drivers work across a race weekend.
