Remember to slow down for a break down! On a recent lesson the student had less than 5 seconds to learn and then safely put into practice what to do when they approach a roadside assistance vehicle - in this case the RAA of SA - with their amber lights flashing. Remember the same applies for tow trucks and emergency vehicles! This is super important to know, not only to be a safe driver, but because failing to do 25kmh will also fail your VORT!

It’s amazing how often I get asked “How do I actually get my P’s?” Well, here you go… oh, and no, you don’t have to complete all 75 hours or 12 months before you sit your VORT. You can do that at any time you feel you’re competent :)

One of the five required manoeuvres in the VORT is simply moving off from the kerb. Sounds easy, but the requirement to check mirrors and your blind spot as well as signal (indicate) for a minimum of five (5) seconds often catches students out. Australian Road Rules state you must signal for five seconds before moving off and failing to do so can result in a test fail! Follow for more VORT tips!

Just letting you know Detour Driving School is taking a short break for a couple of weeks! All existing lessons are locked in, but I am fully booked for September. I have some availability left in the October school holidays.
