Tips for Parents - The second mirror can be adjusted nicely so that the supervising driver can see out of the rear window too. Really helps you to keep an eye on following traffic and to double check the learner's decisions. Saves your poor neck too.🤗

Tip for Parents - You can also buy these suction mounted plates (combined "L" & "P"). Also cheap at $5.50 a pair. Good for mounting inside the car on the windscreen and back window.
I like to plaster my car with "L" signs so that other road users give us a wide berth and some tolerance.

Tip for parents.....these cheap ($6 pair) magnetic "L" plates are fabulous and easy to use. Stash them in your glovebox. The magnets are quite good, but sometimes they will fall off if you apply them onto a wet bonnet or boot. I got my set from Sprint Autos.

Quote from the National Road Safety Partnership Program.....the most common causes of road fatalities and car accidents occasioning serious harm are FATIGUE, SPEED, DISTRACTION (including mobile phones), and ALCOHOL or DRUGS. Parents - We are the most important role models for our teenagers learning to drive. We have to seriously examine our ourselves and make sure we are not guilty of doing any of the above!

Easter Friday was a great day for some training. Took a beginner to Harbour Town where the carpark was deserted! Soon had him whizzing around doing laps. For all parents starting out teaching your teenagers to drive, find a large empty carpark for the very first lesson. Teach them the basics of steering, braking and accelerating. It will speed up their learning, especially if you're organised and go before or after opening hours.

Tailgaters.....we find these vehicles very intimidating! Especially for learner drivers. Had a young driver tailgating my student along a busy seaside road with speed bumps. While keeping an eye in the mirror at the aggressive tailgater, we focused more on the road ahead. Don't get sucked into any kind of emotional confrontation with the tailgater. Look at them as an annoying object only, which will eventually whizz past you to no doubt annoy other road users. Listening to some favourite tunes will also help you stay relaxed and to deflect the aggression from the offending tailgater.

An amber traffic light means STOP if safe to do so! Read a recent article in the news about police fining motorists for driving through amber lights at controlled intersections. So a good reminder to all of us......amber does not mean speed up.
