Why does a subwoofer amplifier need more than a power rating? Because the driver also needs the correct frequency range, load and enclosure plan.
HELIX AMPLIFY 201 X-OVER is rated at 250W RMS into 4Ω, 450W into 2Ω and up to 750W into 1Ω with a music signal. Its adjustable low-pass, subsonic filter and phase control let an installer define the bass channel, while the high-level input accepts compatible factory signals up to 32V.
Those controls are not universal settings. The subwoofer voice-coil wiring, enclosure tuning, power cable, fuse, electrical capacity and available ventilation must be checked together. A 1Ω target is not right for every driver or vehicle.
Tell APEX which subwoofer, enclosure and source you use so we can assess the complete bass channel.
