Sparcraft Masts designs and manufactures custom and production catamaran and monohull aluminium rig packages, and furling systems.

With three decades of mast building experience, Sparcraft Masts is the sole mast manufacturer in South Africa. Design and manufacture of custom and production aluminium rig packages. This includes masts, spars, catamaran crossbeams and longerons.. Supply and fitting of Profurl and Facnor furling systems. Supply, fitting and splicing of wire rod and composite standing rigging, running rigging and wire swaging.

The end of an era — and the beginning of the next.

It has been a privilege to work alongside Balance | Luxury Performance Multihulls over the years, designing, manufacturing and stepping the rigs for this award-winning model. As the last 442 takes to the water, we’re already looking forward to the next chapter — and seeing the first Balance 464 under sail.

Built in-house, down to the details.

At Sparcraft Masts, much of the rig and component manufacturing process happens under one roof – from fabrication and machining to finishing, rigging and quality control, backed by more than three decades of experience.

Here’s a quick look at just two examples in our factory: crossbeam end fittings in production, followed by spreader brackets in our anodising booth as part of the finishing process.

It’s this control over the detail that helps us maintain the quality and consistency expected across every Sparcraft rig.

Always rewarding to see the award-winning Vision 444 ES from Vision Yachts doing what she was designed to do.

Sparcraft Masts works closely with Vision Yachts on the design and manufacture of the rig package, including the mast, Hayrack boom, standing and running rigging, crossbeam, longeron with integrated anchor launch system, Profurl manual genoa furler and Facnor manual screecher furler.

Following on from our previous reel, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race rigs we showed in production are now packed and prepared for shipment.

Rigs 2 to 5 have been carefully secured for their journey to the Clipper fleet, where they will be assembled before being stepped on their respective yachts.

Another important stage complete as these offshore racing rigs move from our factory towards life at sea.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race rigs have been taking shape at Sparcraft Masts.

With Hull 1 already complete and fitted, the rigs for Hulls 2 to 5 have recently completed production and are now en route to the Clipper fleet. Designed to withstand the demands of one of the world’s toughest offshore sailing events, every Clipper rig is engineered and manufactured with the precision, strength and reliability required for thousands of miles at sea.

From factory floor to final fit.

This reel follows the rig package for St Francis 500 Hull 2 as it leaves our Sparcraft factory, heads to St Francis Catamarans, and is stepped.

The full Sparcraft package includes the mast, boom, standing and running rigging, crossbeam, longeron and furlers - all engineered to work together as an integrated sailing system.

It’s always a pleasure working alongside the team at St Francis Catamarans as another bluewater cruiser takes shape.
