⚡ Spark Plugs: Small Parts, Big Impact
Your spark plugs may be small, but they play a huge role in how your engine runs.
They create the spark needed to ignite the air-and-fuel mixture inside your engine. When they're worn, dirty or failing, your engine may struggle to burn fuel efficiently.
Here are some common signs that your spark plugs may need attention:
⚡ Poor fuel consumption
If you're suddenly filling up more often than usual, worn spark plugs could be contributing to inefficient combustion.
⚡ Engine misfires
A faulty spark plug can cause the engine to miss a combustion cycle, resulting in hesitation, shaking or an uneven idle.
⚡ Hard starting
If your vehicle is taking longer than usual to start, don't ignore it. Worn spark plugs can make ignition more difficult.
⚡ Loss of power or sluggish acceleration
If your car doesn't feel as responsive as it normally does, the ignition system is worth checking.
⚡ Rough or uneven idling
An engine that doesn't sound or feel smooth while idling could be telling you something isn't right.
🔧 Why replace them?
Spark plugs don't last forever. Their lifespan depends on the type of plug, the vehicle and the manufacturer's recommended service interval.
Continuing to drive with worn spark plugs can put additional strain on other components and may contribute to increased fuel consumption and further engine problems.
💡 Sydney's Tip — 37 years of experience:
"Don't wait until the car starts running badly before checking your spark plugs. They're a small part, but replacing them at the right time can help keep your engine running smoothly and efficiently."
