Tire humming louder than it should, even though it's brand new?

Directional tires are designed to rotate one way for proper water evacuation and grip. If one gets mounted backwards, it won't fail outright, but it will be noisier and less effective in wet conditions than it's supposed to be.

An easy mistake to catch, if you know to look for it.

Already patched a tire once and got another flat? You might be wondering if it's worth patching again.

Most manufacturers recommend against multiple repairs on the same tire, especially if the punctures are close together. Each patch is a small compromise to the tire's structure, and stacking too many increases the risk of failure.

Sometimes replacing is the safer call, even if the tread still looks decent.

Notice small cracks forming across the sidewall, even though the tread still looks fine?

That's dry rot, and Utah's combination of high elevation sun exposure and dry air speeds it up. The rubber loses its flexibility over time, and once cracking starts, it only spreads.

Tread depth isn't the only thing worth checking before a road trip.
