Passenger side blowing warm while the driver side stays cold, even with dual-zone climate control set the same?

That usually points to a stuck blend door actuator on one side of the system. Each zone has its own door controlling temperature, and when one sticks, it stops responding to the setting entirely.

An easy thing to live with, but an easy fix too.

That specific smell is a strong sign of a coolant leak from the heater core, leaking directly into the cabin's air system instead of onto the ground where you'd normally spot it.
