“I GOT ALL THE TOOLS. HOW HARD CAN IT BE?”

You buy the welder.

Then the plasma cutter.

Then the bead roller, English wheel, shrinker, stretcher, and every other shiny piece of equipment you absolutely convinced yourself you needed.

Watch a couple YouTube videos.

Hell, you’re practically a professional now!

THEN REALITY SHOWS UP.

💰 Thousands of dollars in tools.

💸 $200 in ruined materials.

🤬 Six hours of swearing.

And a finished product that looks like it lost a fight with a fu***ng lawnmower. 😂

Here’s the thing…

Everybody starts somewhere. Every good craftsman was once a beginner who screwed something up.

The difference is the hours spent learning, practicing, making mistakes, and figuring out how to do it right.

IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION…

OWNING THE TOOLS DOESN’T MEAN YOU KNOW HOW TO FU***NG USE THEM.

APPARENTLY, EXPERIENCE IS SOLD SEPARATELY! 🤣

SUNDAY AROUND THE SHOP 🔧

Because apparently a Radio Flyer needed a bomber seat. 😂

Hand-fabricated aluminum, dimple-died holes, diamond upholstery, oversized tires, and an 8-ball shifter.

Was it necessary? Nope.
Did that stop us? Also nope.

🔥 FRIDAYS WITH FEARLESS FRED — EP. 015

“I’LL JUST FIX THIS ONE LITTLE THING.”

🤣🤣🤣

Possibly the biggest lie ever told in a garage.

You walk into the shop with a plan.

One little problem.

15 minutes.

In and out.

Then you notice something else.

“Well, while I’m here, I might as well fix that.”

Then you discover another problem.

And another.

And another.

Pretty soon you’ve got half the fu***ng thing taken apart, every tool you own scattered across the bench, and enough parts lying around to build a second one. 😂

THREE HOURS LATER…

27 tools.

14 parts removed.

6 new problems discovered.

And the original problem?

STILL NOT FU***NG FIXED.

🤣🤣🤣

In my professional opinion…

ONE LITTLE THING IS HOW EVERY BIG FU***NG PROJECT STARTS.

“I’M JUST GONNA RUN TO THE PARTS STORE REAL QUICK.”

😂😂😂

There may not be a bigger lie in the automotive industry.

You know exactly how this s**t goes.

TRIP #1:
Get the part.

Come back. Take it out of the box.

Wrong fu***ng part.

TRIP #2:
Go back. Get the RIGHT part.

Come back.

Start working again.

Son of a bitch… forgot something.

TRIP #3:
Back to the parts store.

Now we’ve got everything.

Except there’s still that wrong part sitting on the bench.

TRIP #4:
Return the wrong s**t. 😂

And somehow the job that required:

45 MINUTES OF ACTUAL WORK

has now consumed:

4½ HOURS OF PARTS-STORE BU****IT.

So here’s today’s professional advice:

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS

A QUICK TRIP TO THE PARTS STORE.

FRIDAYS WITH FEARLESS FRED — EP. 013

“IT JUST NEEDS A LITTLE BODYWORK.”

Possibly the most dangerous sentence ever spoken near a shop. 😂

From the outside?

Little dent.

Maybe a scratch.

Nothing too terrible.

Then the sander comes out…

Oh look. Filler.

Keep sanding.

More filler.

Little farther…

Oh cool. Rust.

Keep going…

WHAT THE F**K HAPPENED HERE?! 😂

Pretty soon what started as a little bodywork has turned into an archaeological expedition through 27 years of repairs, primer, filler and somebody else’s questionable fu***ng decisions.

That’s the thing about bodywork:

Paint only tells you what’s happening on top.

You don’t really know what you’ve bought until you start digging.

And sometimes…

you find an entire ancient civilization under there. 😂

BODYWORK IS JUST ARCHAEOLOGY

The Ironhead hardtail frame is finally wearing color.

Deep blue pearl and flake that looks dark until the light hits it—then the whole thing comes alive. (Damn pics don’t do it justice!).

This is only the beginning. The tank and fender are next, and they’re going to turn this into one hard-to-ignore motorcycle.

“I’LL REMEMBER WHERE THIS GOES.”

Famous last words. 😂

You take something apart and think:

“This is pretty obvious. I don’t need to take pictures.”

Then three days go by.

Now you’re standing there with:

14 bolts.
3 brackets.
2 spacers.
1 weird little clip.

And one mystery part that apparently came from another fu***ng dimension.

So you stare at it.

Turn it over.

Try it six different ways.

Look underneath the bench.

Question every decision you’ve made since childhood.

Then eventually pull out your phone and start searching for pictures of THE THING YOU TOOK APART. 😂

We’ve all done it.

So here’s today’s highly technical Fearless Fred shop tip:

TAKE A FU***NG PICTURE BEFORE YOU TAKE IT APART.

Your future du***ss self will appreciate it.
