Can you turn an off-road electric dirt bike into a street-registered motorcycle?

This customer in California wanted something he could ride both on and off the road, so we walked him through the options.

We recommended the Arctic Leopard XE Pro S for its range, power, and available documentation, along with a potential registration route through Dirt Legal.

Of course, registration requirements vary by state, and not every bike or conversion will qualify.

He called asking when we'd have the Bonnell 805 in stock.

We didn't have an arrival date yet, but there was another bike we thought he should check out: the new Rerode RX.

With 35kW of power, a direct-drive setup, and a roughly $6,200 price tag, it's shaping up to be a pretty compelling alternative.

Here's why we brought it up.

At 6'3" and 230 lbs, he needed an e-moto with enough room to ride comfortably.

We pointed him toward the Arctic Leopard XE Pro S Enduro, with its full-size 21" front wheel, 20kW of power, and claimed 60 mph top speed.

But when the 26kW XE Pro R came up, he realized he might not need quite that much bike just yet.
